Guest guest
Dana, Curious to hear what you think.... both of my kids eat some dairy. My son eats cheese and yogurt. He has never had a rash in response to thoose foods. My daughter eats yogurt and I have never seen a rash (it is SCD yogurt, 24 hour culture). She drank milk before her diet change and never had rashes. Should I be suspect of a reaction to the whey/trace amounts of milk considering they both have dairy?? If they are currently eating/drinking milk, then the trace amounts in Culturelle should not be a problem. A rash is not the only sign you would watch for tho. Do you give the milk products with an appropriate enzyme? Have you ever removed milk for 2-3 days to see if there are changes? Dana
Guest guest
Yeah my daughter has gone without yogurt for more than 2-3 days. She does well with the yogurt it helped improve her stools tremendously. She has horrible gut flora and the yogurt was the only way we were actually getting some good flora established. She is starting to tolerate some probiotics better now. She is responding very well to the culturelle. I feel like I have seen huge improvement in yeast control but this rash is horrible. She is continueing to have it along with itching. The rash and itching is over her torso but seems especially prominent over her lower back (over her gut region). I have also noted her itching at her armpits (lymphnodes??) and at her head (brain yeast?). Again I have never seen this response to dairy ever, not even when she was a milk guzzler - she has not had any milk since she was about 3 years old (so over 2 years now) but does eat the yogurt. I hate to pull the culturelle when it seems to be a good impact but the itching is pretty bad. Anyone have something similar? It is hard to know if this is a detox - how long can a detox go on?? My daughter does take enzymes regularly. We were doing all 3 Houston but switched recently to Enzymedica's. I became concerned that the papain and bromelain in the Houston products I had may have been causing some irritation along with the high proteases. I am now using a lower amount of protease. My son takes enzymes but not with every meal. Jen K. > > > > Dana, > > Curious to hear what you think.... both of my kids eat some dairy. My > > son eats cheese and yogurt. To determine if the rash is caused by yeast leaving the body, try putting an antifungal cream like Lotrimin on it. At my house, Culturelle worked to eliminate bad bacteria, not so much yeast. > detox go on?? My daughter does take enzymes regularly. If you want to try HNI again, there are versions without papain/bromelain that you can try. Dana
Guest guest
THe culturelle could be addressing bacteria. I know per an OAT done about 2+ years ago she had the clostridia byproducts in her urine. For me sometimes it can be confusing what is yeast/bacteria. I suppose if the culturelle is addressing bacteria yeast could actually be increasing and causing the rash? I did read that culturelle can increase IgA which she is low in and I wondered if that (increase in IGA)could have an impact on yeast? Yes, I am considering the Houstons other enzymes - AFP pep and the other zyme pryme. Jen K. > >>She is responding very well to > > the culturelle. Guest guest
Well I decided to stop the culturelle because the rash just wasn't going away and the itching was bad. Since stopping it has decreased but is not gone completely. So I have no idea. The rash did seem to respond to an over the counter antifungal cream. I decided to try that one night and it seemed better the next morning. But it seems to come back and she complains about itching, especially on her back every night. Night seems worse than the daytime. Anyone know if Enzymedica's enzymes are different than Houston's? Could there be some type of ingredient that she is allergic to? She has taken their lacto before without a problem. She is taking Vgest too. I first noticed the rash when she was very, very sick with some sort of virus. She had a massive white blood cell crash (down to a 3.6 or so) and it was that day that I noticed she was covered in little bumps. Her white blood cells have since come back up but I still notice the very little bumps and then there are spots of larger, more itchy clusters. The larger itchier clusters seem to come and go - kind of like they flare up at times. So strange... we do have an immunologist consult in July.
