Guest guest
You are absolutely not selfish! I'm happy for you and your son if this works out! Some kids are able to tolerate a much broader diet, if not all foods with enzymes. I hope your son is one of them. I think that the least limited diet for a child the better. Due to watching my son reactions, I'm a firm believer in getting nutrition from whole foods rather then depending solely on supplements. At our house, we are in such a fix, that my son's diet just keeps getting more and more limited, even with enzymes- which I'm very disappointed to report. It's like we have painted ourself into a corner. The less variety of food he has, the more he creates new allergies. I think that a time will come in healing autism, that we won't have to be so dependant on eliminating food but rather find another way to heal the gut. All though, I'm clearly no expert; I'd say go for it. The worse that will happen is that it may not work out long term and you have to go back on the diet. I've tried a few times to just use enzymes and for about two weeks it usually worked o.k. but then the regressions got bad again. Once I put my son on the diet again we started right where we left off and did not loose any ground. I hope your family has a fantastic time on your trip!!! Am I being selfish? I don't think you are being selfish. It sounds to me that you are considering something that works well for him, so all of you can have a nicer weekend. My son left gfcf with HNI enzymes, and he improved because of it. Dana
Guest guest
Maggie, I look at these times as an opportunity to experiement. Just recently I left my son with my parents overnight. In order not to overwhelmed my Mom with DS's supplements, I left out the right before bed and first thing in the morning Candidase just to see what would happen. DS still got his probiotics, vitamins, minerals, and enzymes. Well....DS was fine while he was there, but within 24 hours his yeast was back. Darn it!! I guess I learned that he still needs the Candidase. :-( > > So I decided to let my son have a christmas treat and for the last 2 > days gave him a good dose of enzymes and let him eat what he wanted.
