: Mold has been discovered in three local elementary schools.

: North East Independent School District officials agree the mold is a

: problem, but tell parents they shouldn't panic.

: Stone Oak Elementary - 7 p.m. Tuesday

: Huebner Road Elementary - 7 p.m. Wednesday

: Longs Creek Elementary - 7 p.m. Thursday

: Huebner Road

: 8 areas including:

: Areas in Huebner Road, Stone Oak and Longs Creek elementary schools were

: found during a routine maintenance inspection. Officials said a material,

: CMU Block, was used in all buildings. Experts said it's six times more

: porous than brick. They believe water and moisture has been absorbed

: through the walls, caused the dry wall to get wet and provided a breeding

: ground for mold.

: The district has been busy testing the mold to see what it is.

: " In fact, when we did the air quality test, we found the concentration of

: mold in the building is a small fraction of what is going on outside, "

: said Steve Henry.

: The exact results of what the mold is won't be available until later this

: week or early next week.

: District officials said they already are making plans to get it out of

: the schools.

: Meetings are scheduled at each school for parents and school

: representatives to discuss the matter.

: The school board will meeting tonight.
