Guest guest
Hi! I cant tell you much info on the grapeseed(there are those on this board that can), but can tell you that any intestinal change, wether good or bad well cause spectrum/sensory affects. The good side affects is temporary! Calcium is a stimulant mineral, maybe add some magnesium, it is the opposite(a calming mineral). One depletes the other and need to be balanced! Also this time of year is high viral season. We have seen a direct connection with virus's and these type of behaiviours with our son. In all my groups, the winter season is a busy season for issues I believe due to so many viruses floating around. Guest guest
> He's in a fog, hyper, silly, weepy, fussy, and irritable. Grape seed extract is high phenol, and can tend to increase yeast. Both phenol issues and yeast issues can have the symptoms you indicate above http://www.danasview.net/phenol.htm http://www.danasview.net/yeast.htm >>I also started CoQ10 a few days before > the grapeseed, but these really negative side behaviors started after that. Do you give the CoQ10 with fat? >> The only other > thing I did was try to give him calcium phosphate between meals a few days ago, which > affected his sleep and make him spacey. Calcium did that to my son also, because he was calcium toxic. Does this supplement contain magnesium? Dana
Guest guest
I am on the Feingold group, and grape seed is high in phenols, which can provoke that type of reaction. I give my son No-Fenol enzymes with any high phenol foods > > Hello, > Does anyone have experience with grapeseed extract (the anti-oxidant, not grapefruit seed > extract)? Guest guest
Thanks for all of your replies. Here's an update: this morning my son woke up fine again. So I gave him some more grapeseed extract to see how he'd do, and he's been fine all day— pretty clear and not hyper or upset like yesterday. I'm beginning to suspect it was what Jennie said—maybe his immune system was fighting off a virus. Who knows. I could tell it wasn't a phenol reaction because he didn't have the typical red cheeks and ears (plus he's got NAET recently, so he's not reacting to phenols anymore). I'm curious about some of the things you mentioned, Dana. What kind of fat do you give CoQ10 with? Just ordinary dietary fats? Also, should I be giving magnesium when I supplement calcium? He gets calcium with every meal to absorb oxalates, but I'd like to supplement it outside of meals because his RBC showed he's low. I give some mag with his B6 in the morning, but maybe I should give more with the between-meal calcium (if I get brave enough to try it again). Thanks for your help! Guest guest
I give my son the co-q-10 when I give him CLO or EFA's. klt9751 <klt9751@...> wrote: Thanks for all of your replies. Guest guest
Thanks for the advice. My son doesn't get any of those, or any other oil supplements right now, but there's talk of starting some kind of EFA soon. I'll be sure to give the CoQ10 at the same time. Guest guest
Kit, all forms of grapefruit seed, extract, tincture, the seed itself (whole, mashed, sliced, pulverized....), anti-oxidant are highly allergenic if you happen to be an allery prone individual - I never had a patient allergic only to grapefruit seed. CoQ10 hypersensitivity is rare. Both can provoke the symptoms you describe. I would avoid ALL citrus scrupulously for a month, and then slowly reintroduce, starting with tangerine juice (get all the white strings out), and see what he tolerates. No more grapefruit seed anything IMO. Of course, you ought to eliminate the CoQ for 4 days then try it again. Anyone testing for food allergies the most reliable way (challenge) needs to find the lenghth of time it takes food to move all the way from chewing and swallowing to totally gone from the body - usually 3-4 day, but sometimes very much slower. Eat a bowl of blueberries and watch for the black or dark stools, and see how long it takes for the color to be gone. Do this two or three times a year just to be certain. von Hilsheimer, Ph.D. author, Allergy, Toxins, and the LD Child. Grapeseed Extract Reaction Hello, Does anyone have experience with grapeseed extract (the anti-oxidant, not grapefruit seed extract)? My son is having a negative reaction to something, and I think it's the grapeseed extract that I started a couple of days ago. He's in a fog, hyper, silly, weepy, fussy, and irritable. I also started CoQ10 a few days before the grapeseed, but these really negative side behaviors started after that. The only other thing I did was try to give him calcium phosphate between meals a few days ago, which affected his sleep and make him spacey. It really seems like the grapeseed, but I can't find anything on adverse reactions to it. Could it cause die-off of some kind, or some other problem? Thanks, --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The body needs magnesium [and a few other things] for proper absorption of calcium. Dana
