Guest guest
Hi, Rita. My son is 8 and weighs only 46 pounds. We give him one each of the Housten enzymes at each meal. If you read the info from Houston they do say you can give up to three at a time, but also say there is no evidence to show that more than 3 of each enzyme has any effect, but it is safe to give as many as you would like. My son is not gf/cf, either. We are dairy free because of an allergy, but have not tried gf/cf because it is difficult to get him to eat anything and he hasn't gained weight for two years. I did notice hyperactivity after placing him on enzymes. We found out recently from his O.A.T. test with peptides that he did have leftover casein and gluten peptides (when not on enzymes). These peptides caused an " opiate-like " state. This is why I think the different behavior (on the enzymes) seems like hyperactivity. Food normally made him space out, and now it doesn't. This is a positive change. I'm sure someone will weigh in with better information, but this was my experience and I thought it was relevant (not being a gf/cf family). Good luck. As a side note, we found out he has Salmonella in his digestive tract and lacked the " good " bacteria to take care of it and that was probably causing a lot of his appetite and weight issues. He has been on the " good " bacteria supplements for three days and his appetite has already picked up. I am guessing its not and think I probably should of ordered the capsules. Also, they seem more hyper than ever, loud and fighting, just really crazy. does this mean the enzymes are doing something? their diet is not good (not gf/cf either) but i was hoping t get away with enzymes only.......thoughts? thanks, rita
Guest guest
DId you start all at the same time? Try starting one, like zyme prime. Start with 1 chewable and slowly go up to 3 for each meal. But slow method avoids hyperactivity. Then try the no phenol one, this is good for hyper kids. 1 phenol is enough for food with veg and fruit. Then I started on peptizyde (sp?), again 1 and work up to 3 chewable for each meal. It takes 6 weeks to get them going. I do mostly capsules but have chewable handy for travel purposes. My doctor gave a note for school and he is allowed to self administer himself. take care, Anandhi --- ritas2boys <gingras440@...> wrote: > again.........I got the chewables and have started > with one each of > Housens three at each meal.....my boys are 10 yrs > old (82 lbs) and 12 > yrs old (125lbs)......is this enough? They might not tolerate the flavors, so you might be better off with the capsules. >>Also, they seem more hyper > than ever, loud and fighting, just really crazy. does this mean the > enzymes are doing something? It is either the adjustment period [usually lasts approx 3 weeks], or they don't tolerate the flavors or something else about the enzymes. You also might need to eliminate a few foods, altho maybe not gluten/casein. Dana
