Do you > see signs of viral activity (rashes, fevers, etc) or just steady > progress? **She has not had what I would consider a regular illness since we first started OLE back in April. At that time she had a high fever and vomitting which lasted about 1 day. Then a little rash point (sort of looked like a single little scratch) appeared on her chest. It looked very similar to the pictures that Dana has posted of her son's viral rash. Since starting the anti-virals again in September she has had one or two of those single scratch places, but no fevers or illness. Lots of sneezing here and there. I'm not sure what to make of this - if it means we are just stirring around the viruses and not eliminating them or what. But the change in her when we started back was VERY noticable, so we keep going ever so slowly, fighting hard to keep the yeast at a maneagable level. I am very unwilling to put my son through the difficulties > that came with our last viral protocol. You and I spoke about this > slower approach on another board. I am most certainly leaning toward this way of doing things. **I envy the ones who have good success with a 2-3 month high dose run. But, you may remember last summer when we started ramping up the VS too fast and she just cried all the time. It was heartbreaking and I knew that we weren't going to be able to keep going like that. I also went back and reviewed the viral section in Dr. M's book. The young girl whose story she spoke of was on anti-virals for 18 months or so. I decided that a long term approach might work better for us, and so far it has. Do you have any idea of your daughter's > methylation cycle? Are you addressing it at all? **Still a little confusing for me to figure out if she is over or under or neither. She doesn't fit neatly into either group. She does well with 25 mg P5P and has been on this for over a year now. Trials of low amounts of MB12 have been non-productive to this point as have trials of higher folinic acid. She gets 200 mcg in her multi and does fine with that. However, one of the things that has improved greatly for her over the last several months is her ability to respond appropriately and timely to a vast array of different questions/requests, etc. She is also able to finally put together a complete sentence now and again. I guess this might indicate that we are making some progress in the area of methylation. I plan to do another trial of additional folinic in the near future to see if it will bring about further improvements in language processing. I ask because I > think it may be one of the missing keys to my son's problems and one > of the reasons he couldn't keep his gains for the viral protocol > > ** I think that the low slow approach could defnitely be something for you to consider. It seems that some of our kids just need a lot more viral support and cleanup than can be accomplished in just a few short months. The theory makes sense because it would take a lot longer than that to bring healing to a broken down immune system. It would be nice if the path were a little bit more clear for us, wouldn't it. I'm hoping for some wonderful things to happen this new year for all of our children. Take care, Anita. Sheresa
