Guest guest
Ok, so over the weekend I had my son take oral ALA along with DMPS every 3hrs/day and every 4 hrs/night as per Andy's protocol. We adjusted his DMPS to half the usual dose since he was on an 8 hr schedule before. Surprisingly, he was a trooper and cooperated fairly well to being woken up at night. He whined and said sleepy or tried to ignore me and go back sleep which caused me to have to wake him up over and over again to get him to take his pills, but no complaints, things went smoother than expected. So here is what I noticed after just the 1 round of ALA that I didn't see with 3 months of DMPS: Noticeable jump in communication - for example; he will tickle me, I will laugh and he will say " mommy is happy " . Also, he was looking at the side of his juice cup from McDs today. He pointed to the people on it and asked me " who's that? " with each person. He's never asked " who's that " just because he was curious. On the rare occasions that he would ask this, it was usually because we were looking at pictures of people or characters he was already familiar with. More loving and generally happier - he asks for hugs more than before, will tickle me or scratch my back because he knows I like that. He also smiles more. I sense that he understands me better - if I say " if you do X you are getting a time out " , he will say " OK " and actually not do it again. It would not have been worth mentioning this stuff if it were only me who noticed, but hubby mentioned them too. He is not around the kids as much since I am the primary caregiver, so when he notices enough to make comments, I know it's not just my imagination at work. Also, my son's shadow aides at preschool have been telling me what a " good day " he has had which is not something I hear 3 days in a row. One other thing worth mentioning is that I had behavior issues on the first " off " day for less than 24 hours. We chelated from 3PM Fri to 1PM on Mon. He was irritable by Mon evening and upon waking on Tue. By the time he was at preschool on Tue he was better. I don't know if the irritability was due to metals settling back in or tiredness. Anyway, I wish I would have tried ALA sooner with my son. I was encouraged by the wonderful responses to my questions and from reading about the experiences that Dana went throught when she chelated her kids (danasview.net). It's good to know that there are so many great people out there who are willing to hold your hand and guide you. I am lucky and priviledged to be a part of this site.
