Guest guest
Caprylic acid is known to help with yeast. I use it in coconut oil. Switching back to GFCF from SCD Under the advice of our Naturapath, we are switching back to GFCF. Ruby has been SCD for 6 months now. The only thing I've really noticed from SC diet is well formed bms. I gave her some homemade GFCF bread yesterday and the day before and she had a huge loose bm last night. Today she is yelling over little things again. Does this mean she can never have carbs again? I am really tired of the SC diet and want her on GFCF instead. Has anyone ever switched back? If so, how did you control the yeast the comes back? I'm thinking of uping her Biotin for a short time. I am also thinking of doing half GFCF and half SCD. Thanks I appreciate the advice. ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ You rock. Guest guest
If you got normal poops from SCD - I would be really cautious going back to GFCF- they recommend waiting 2 years, to be sure the gut has healed to the point that the double and other more complex starches can be digested w/out causing leaky gut. And if you see regression, I would think about it even more. I just got from the DAN conference, so my head is spinning- here's a presentation by Arthur Krigsman about what a damaged GI tract looks like... http://www.thoughtfulhouse.com/0405-conf-akrigsman.htm > > Under the advice of our Naturapath, we are switching back to GFCF. Guest guest
I have decided to stay with SCD for however long I have to. We're all going on it now. That way when I'm cooking it will be for everyone and I won't have to make separate dinners anymore! That link is very interesting. That is exactly the kind of poop Ruby had yesterday after she ate the gf bread. The only good thing (I think) is that it took two days before she had that poop and even had a normal poop before the bad poop. I think I've said poop more in this message than I've ever said poop. Thanks for the advice. I realize now that the SCD is working better for Ruby than I thought. > > > > Under the advice of our Naturapath, we are switching back to GFCF. > Ruby > > has been SCD for 6 months now. As an example, enzymes did not help my son eat rice or corn, but when I added back wheat, he had a noticeable improvement. > Does this mean she can never have carbs again? After ALA chelation and several supplements, my kids tolerated all foods. So it depends on what interventions you choose, and why she does not tolerate foods. >>how did you control the yeast the comes back? Try giving biotin. Guest guest
Good choice! I'm new here to the enzyme group and I'm doing SCD along with my son and I really feel like it's working for us. I, too, cannot wait until we are healed enough to eat normally again, but at the same time, I don't ever want either of us to feel like we did before. Hang in there! It's a long road, but well worth it Kari > > > > > > Under the advice of our Naturapath, we are switching back to > GFCF. > > Ruby > > > has been SCD for 6 months now. Guest guest
Yeah, the enzyme didn't help her at all for the rice. I am really interested in ALA, but I don't know if her gut is ready for it. I was considering the every 8 hour schedule, but wonder how I would give it to her in the middle of the night without her staying awake? Thanks! > > I gave her some homemade GFCF bread yesterday and the day before and > > she had a huge loose bm last night. Guest guest
I have never used it but the site uses the ALA/DMSA protocol every 4 hrs. per Andy Cutler and the parents use a syringe with a little OJ and the ALA mixture at night and just put it a drop at a time in the child's mouth and they swallow it unconsciously and never have to be awoken for the dose. Chris Re: Switching back to GFCF from SCD Yeah, the enzyme didn't help her at all for the rice. I am really interested in ALA, but I don't know if her gut is ready for it. Some kids require it every 3 hours, including during the night, but mine did fine with it during the daytime only. I started out trying to be as close to 8 hours as possible, but after a few rounds, I just gave it before each meal. Dana
