I started mine out at 1000mcg and worked up. I think you might want to

do the low and slow method and watch for reactions. :)

I accidently doubled my son's dosage -- and that seemed to be the

ticket. He was as 500-1000mcg per day and one day he got 2000mcg. The

following morning I gave him 1000mcg and that afternoon a large yeasty

poop. I seem to get better results with " pulsing " supplements like

this.

Our son seems to be detoxing yeast too. What are the typical

characteristics of a " yeasty " poop. Can you tell if the Biotin and

other stuff is working?

Thanks,

Ellen

Hi Maggie,

Exactly what type of reactions are you talking about? I have been

doing the low and slow method with my son also and started at 500mcg

and worked up from there. Today I gave him 1000mcg in the morning

and tonight was the first time I gave him 1000mcg at dinner, usually

500mcg, and OMG his reaction was super stimming. Can biotin cause

yeast die-off?

Yes, I believe it can. I have seen posts from some people who started off way

too high and their child gets real " stimmy " .

Are you doing GSE too? That stuff makes my kid crazy, even with the no-phenol.

I think I might go get some activated charcoal tomorrow. I don't know if I'm

crazy, but it seems my son tolerates everything better if I give it to him with

food. (except the GSE!)

Sorry to jump in on your conversation but I had a question about

biotin. I posted earlier but have not gotten a response on it. What

is the correct dosage for a 4 yo who is approx 47lbs? The bottle I

bought is 5000 mcg per capsule. Is this too high? Can I give this

on an empty stomach with Kirkmans YEast Aid? Or is it best given

with food? Is there a time of day when yeast protocol is more

effective?

I also agree with Maggie's post about charcoal. It is great. I give

it an hour after the antifungal so it can soak up all of the gross

stuff and just get it out of there.

Again sorry to jump in but I am really excited about getting biotin

started properly.

I agree, I thought it wws a lot. He is usually pretty sensitive with

supplements but for the past 3 days I've been giving him the full

dose. Miraculously I have not see any negative side effects. THe

only thing I am seeing is very yeasty stools indicative of die-off

and also saw some red cheeks and ears the first day, but that has

disappated.

Can you give too much biotin? Is there a toxicity issue if he

continues at this dosage? Thanks for everyones help.

Yes, I usually give my so GSE, 2 drops, OoO, 1 drop, along with no-

phenol and he gets super stimmy. I make it a habit to give supplements

apart from each other so that I will be able to pinpoint what

supplement gave the reaction. I have activated charcoal on hand but we

are addressing constipation issues. I read on a post that biotin

helped their child so here we are. Yes, it did help. :) Thank You

As far as dosage goes, I prefer to go low and slow. I started my son

at 500 mcg 1x a day for about 4-5 days and then 2x a day etc., etc.

Hope this helps.

When I was taking too much biotin myself, it gave me a headache.

I have read so much about Biotin and the dosages, but when do you give it?

If it is supposed to help with sleep, do you give it before bed?

Our son is now taking one 1000mcg capsule. We give it at dinner.

Is this ok? Maybe later or earlier. If we add another capsule, what

times are best.

At my house, I gave it with every dose of supplements that tended to

increase yeast.

You can.

Best to spread it out over the day.
