Why an RX for a chemical free matress?

Does anyone know WHY you would need an RX to buy a mattress which is free of

chemicals?? I'm just curious to know the reasoning behind it.

Yes, because the chemicals are for flame retardency. The current belief of

our government is that it is safer to have a flame retardant mattress than

the effects of the chemicals on you. They do make cotton mattresses with boric

acid in them without prescriptions.

A mattress with no flame retardant is considered a fire hazard.

You don't need a prescription for an organic mattress unless it's

100% cotton and/or does not meet the standards for fire hazards.

There are manufacturers who do offer organic, chemical free mattress

that meet (and exceed, I was told) the standards for fire safety.
