Chelation Round 1 & When to add ALA?

Hi all,

Been quietly reading the posts for some time now ... finally just

started chelation after I got my wife's agreement after my boy was

having sensory issues.

My boy is 3.5 years old, PDD-NOS, looking like Asperger's (so say the

developmental paed). He is about 42 lbs and we stated with 4mg DMSA,

oral, mixed in a little lemon juice. So we almost did one round as I

didn't wake up for the Sunday Night rounds, so I think I was right to

end the round there. Will try to improve methods next weekend or in 2 weeks.

So far, it seemed well tolerated. First of all, it was difficult to give

the agent when he was asleep - lots of protestation even half asleep (he

is very verbal). After two nights of 4 hourly dosing, I don't know how

the rest of you cope with doing the third night and crawling into the

office on Monday. (Must be even worst when you start ALA and go to 3

hourly). I haven't seen any improvement yet (probably quite subtle in

this case) and I don't know about the redistribution when the round

stops as yet.

My question is this ... when do we raise the DMSA dosage? when do we

know that the DMSA dose is OK and then add ALA? then ... in what

proportions?

Thanks in advanced,

Greg
