A person can try ALA, DMSA and DMPS alone, at 1/8 mg/lb, and see how they feel. I find that DMPS suppresses my mercury symptoms so much that I want to take it all the time (at low doses, frequent intervals). DMSA does a good job of suppressing my symptoms as well. ALA increases my fatigue, which I can't really afford to have increased too much, so I will be using it with DMPS until I get farther along with chelation. Some people find that they use DMSA or DMPS in the early stages of chelation, then a mix with ALA, then ALA alone later on in chelation. Chelating with ALA alone would be very inexpensive for people who are on very tight budgets. ALA is not to be used for at least 3 months after recent exposure to mercury (like from amalgam removal or a vaccine). J
