Guest guest
I actually hate sounding crazy. But I prefer it to *being* crazy. -- Michele -- Webmaster of Health Gazelle talithamichele@... http://www.atraceofme.com http://www.healthgazelle.org " There is freedom within. Guest guest
Too true. But it really is choice A or choice B in this arena, isn't it? Hitler said (something like) " The bigger the lie, the more it will be believed " . In this case, the bigger the truth, the harder it is to get accross because the lies are just too enormous and plentiful. The cruel joke here is that we didn't invent all the things out there which effect our children and they're coming so hard and fast that, in order to discuss them, ward them off, ask for help in warding them off, etc., it's necessary to name them. Then the trap is to come off like a loon. Someone wrote a piece for this cause called " Cassandra's Threads " (I heard about it from someone on this list and would love to read it, but can't find it on the web). I guess the title refers to Cassandra, the prophet of the Trojan war. The gods cursed her to tell the truth (predicting the outcome of the war) with the catch that no one would believe her. She stood on a wall shouting out the truth and went mad- the " Cassandra on the wall " effect. The analogy has been made about many causes in the past which met with severe resistant but turned out to be based in fact. I don't plan on losing it. Too much to do. :-) > > I actually hate sounding crazy. Guest guest
I meant that basically the folks who don't see the truth are " crazy " in a sense -- ie they are not in touch with reality. The " Cassandra Complex " does not threaten my sanity -- at least not these days. It does frustrate me and cause me emotional pain, in part because I am a very social person and I hate watching people suffer needlessly because they just do not believe it to be true. It is hard at times for me to just keep my mouth shut. On the other hand, I know that trying to cram the truth down someone's throat simply doesn't work. The act of trying to force it makes them much more likely to reject it out of hand and to be become resistent to EVER listening to it at some point in the future. > > I actually hate sounding crazy.
