It is series of excercises that can help you get to the

approipriate " arousal " or " attention " level for a specific type of

activies. The excercise are OT based. My son's OT uses bases much of

her therapy time on the book called " Brain Gym for teachers "

My son has made tremendous progress this year. I beleive that his OT

program is important component that contributed to his success.

My friend swears by this program!!!!

I just heard about it myself and will start looking into it....but she and

her kids have been using it for years....and the kids were explaining all

kinds of stuff to me about how it helped them take tests, etc...

I too will be looking into it!

We have used it with success with our ASD son and our daughter who has

dyslexia. It is really helpful but you need to stay committed to see

real benefits. I would recommend trying it at home. The books are

very easy to understand and implement at home.

We used it and saw benefits too. It's part of our school that we used to do

several times a week. We used it for dyslexia. We found that our most dyslexic

children are also our most left to right brain uncoordinated. You can just

see...that the more severe the dyslexia the more trouble doing the exercises.

My better readers or my already reading children, were going through the

exercises with coordination and my more dyslexic children were like hopelessly

not able to move both sides of their body at the same time. I have to admit, it

is hard work for the dyslexic children, and they see the others having an easier

time, and can get frustrated with the exercises, so you kind of have to say

" we're doing this now " , and it is work for these children, difficult physical

therapy for the brain. The children that don't need it, simply love it like fun

times, no big deal. The excercises cause the left and right brain to have to

work together, making reading easier, because left/right brain working together

is a skill needed for reading. We got it through interlibrary loan, it is a

small booklet. We made a copy. I really need to get disciplined on doing brain

gym again this year, so, thanks for reminding me.
