Suzanne,

My daughter did get to the point where she didn't even realize that the

helmet was on. It became like a part of her. Actually she adjusted VERY

quickly. After about a week it was like nothing! In fact, after about a month

she wanted her helmet on! She would fuss when we took it off and get very

excited when we went to put it on. She hold very still and sticks her neck

out so we can put it on her. She really seems to like it!! Not to mention the

millions of bumps and bruises that wearing the helmet has spared her!!! LOL

The time has really flown. has been in hers for about 5 months and it

seems like yesterday!!

Our son, who is four months old, has been wearing the Starband since

last Friday.

Last night was his first night sleeping in the band. Although he did

sleep through the night, he cried out a couple of times and just

didn't seem comfortable -- although I can't say that I blame him.

I was wondering how long it typically takes for a child to adjust to

it, particulary when sleeping. Is it weeks, months??? Do they ever

get to a point where they really don't know it's even on?

Although he seems to tolerate it ok, he still seems happier when it's

off then when it's on right now. I'm probably being overly paranoid

as he has minimal red marks that fade away quickly so I don't think

it's hurting him. I just hope these couple months that he has to wear

it go by quickly.

We took him out in public with it for the first time this weekend. We

did get a couple of stares at the mall but also had a very nice lady

approach us in the grocery store who knew all about the band. Her

son, who must be 10 years old or so now, had to wear it too and she

said all turned out well!
