Guest guest
Hello...I'm new to the list. I'm here for my 7yo ds who is ADHD, has sensory issues and numerous food/environmental/chemical allergies. In the past, he has had some tendencies to traits on the autistic spectrum, but those have improved with the interventions we've used. We have been on the Feingold program for 4 years, to which he responded wonderfully. He has had eczema since 4 months old, and has tested positive to many different foods and environmental allergens as well. We do the best we can keeping these things at a minimum, but we do not completely eliminate anything but peanuts (anaphylactic) b/c if we did, he wouldn't have anything to eat but rice. His eczema improved with the removal of peanuts and dairy from my own diet while nursing him. It improved further with the addition of Fish oil and EPO. Back in June, our naturopath assisted me in getting some testing done with Great Plains Lab. We did an OAT, a urine porphyrins, a hair elements test, a copper/zinc profile plus glutathione, and a comprehensive stool analysis. He showed signs of yeast, a complete absence of Bifidobacter, normal copper/zinc levels and ratio, normal Glutathione. High levels of some things on the OAP, mostly pointing to nutrient deficiencies and yeast overgrowth/leaky gut, but not a lot of inflammation. We are in the middle of a yeast protocol, and that seems to be giving good results. We are also doing several nutritional supplements that are helping to heal his gut. I would like to get some help here with his urine porphyrins and hair elements results. Naturopath does not have a lot of experience with interpretation here, and doesn't think Jack is toxic. Wanted to do a provoked urine challenge to get more info, but after doing my own research, I refused. I applied the counting rules myself, and from what I can tell, he does have mercury problems. His urinary porphyrins were all within normal range EXCEPT Coproporphyrins I, III (CP), which were well out of range (271.9, with the high level being 153). Can someone help me with what this abnormal result indicates? Also, how do I go about posting his hair elements results so that they can be interpreted by someone more knowledgeable than myself? Do I just post the abnormal results, or the whole thing? Advice much appreciated. Jack has never been vaccinated (I stopped after my first child had her first couple of rounds of shots). He has never had an antibiotic, never had Vitamin K or any interventions at birth (born at home). No dental work of any kind. However, I had RhoGam with him (during pregnancy and after), besides the 2 shots I had with his older sister. I ate tuna in excessive amounts during pregnancy (trying to get protein), and I may have amalgam under a crown. Am I correct in assuming that if I did have any other amalgams, that I would see silver in my mouth? I've had plenty of dental work done, cavities filled, but I don't have any silver amalgams. They appear to be composite fillings. If one can have silver underneath the composite (for cosmetic reasons), please do educate me on that. I'm new to this. Any help appreciated! I have learned so much just by reading the FAQ and all the posts this week. Continuing to read and learn. For future reference, DDI hair analysis test works better than Great Plains, as far as the counting rules go. You can order the DDI hair elements test yourself without a prescription through Direct Lab Services (DLS). If you mention this list they'll give you a discount.
