Guest guest
Listmates, A few questions here. I remember reading a while back that a person who has a taurine deficiency is often sensitive to chlorine. For years my little one has broken out in a rash after going in the pool. It may be that the rash is already there (we battle skin issues constantly, which seem to somewhat remedy with antifungals), but when she gets out of the pool, it is bright red and irritated. I'm wondering what anyone knows about taurine supplementation? I've read you should also consider using GABA, tyrosine (in 5HTP) and phenylalnine with it? We have never had a Plasma Amino Acids test done, but she has had low creatine levels on all of her blood work in the last 3 years. She also has high glucose levels on her blood work...Andy's book states " Taurine stimulates insulin production and lowers blood sugar which can be a problem for hypoglycemics " . She has never been diagnosed as hypoglycemic, but admittedly, I don't know whether or not this statement applies to her based on her high glucose readings. Anybody have any suggestions? Chlorine is added to pools to keep the bacteria down. So kids who are prone to yeast overgrowth will generally have a yeast overgrowth problem after swimming in chlorinated water. I gave taurine for quite a while for my kids, because they required it, in addition to mito cocktail, for proper absorption of fats. I never gave the other supplements you list above.
