Guest guest
Hi, Isabelle is 8 months and got her helmet today from NOPCO out of Childrens Hospital in Boston. I can't believe how much she is sweating. Her whole head was soaked 3 times today and I had to take the helmet off to let her dry off. Is this normal? Does it get better? They did drill holes in the back, so I know that some air is getting in. She isn't wearing it to sleep tonight but will wear it tomorrow if all goes well. She napped a couple of times in it, but slept for shorter amounts of time than she usually does. She also has ezcema and I'm worried that all the sweating will cause her head to break out. You would never know she has it as it's been under control for several months, but it's always lurking. Does anyone else have experience with this? Thanks! Guest guest
Hi my daughter wore the helmet last summer and fall in south Florida so I know what you are going through. The childs head gets used to it and they stop dripping but I found out i could not get rid of the swetty smell even with alchol. Keep towel drying the head for the 1st few days till it gets better. > Hi, > > Isabelle is 8 months and got her helmet today from NOPCO out of > Childrens Hospital in Boston. Guest guest
The sweating is very normal especially at the very beginning. Our orthotist told us to expect a lot of sweating at first as 's body temperature adjusted. Sure enough, after a couple of weeks the sweating decreased dramatically! It is amazing how babies can adapt to things!! In the meanwhile just try to dress Isabelle a little lighter and take the helmet off and give her and her helmet a good wipe down. Also, we had holes drilled all over the helmet. Did you say you had them only in the back? Maybe your orthotist can put some more holes in it for you. Congratulations on your good start - it sounds like things are going really well. There are a bunch of other mothers on this page who have babies with eczema. Hopefully they will give you some insight on what to expect and how they have handled it. Marci (Mom to ) Oklahoma
