Guest guest
Since starting my LDN I have had an increase in bowl movements (6-7x/day)and diarrhea. Although I have had loose stool for years, I now have what seems to be straight bile coming through (yellow liquid..) Is this common? I thought someone had said once before if you have undiagnosed Celiacs or something along those lines, LDN may worsen symptoms. While it is a pain in the butt..(ha-ha) it is not so much so that I will stop my LDN. I just wonder about how long should I expect it to continue before I look into possible causes other than a simple side effect??? One other thing I noticed today for the first time was after drinking a glass of whole milk (with hershey's syrup) I almost immediately got a stomach ache. Now, I don't usually drink milk because I don't really like it, but I was craving it today. I wonder if there is a connection?? Thanks for all the help. Guest guest
Hi Saundra,For best results using LDN, Dr. Jaquelyn McCandless advises abstaining from sugar, soy, dairy, and gluten (found in wheat, barley, rye, and oats). This site discusses LDN's side effects and how to cope with some of them:http://tinyurl.com/yosnk5Sincerely,Dudley Delany dudley_delanyFrom: Saundra Renz Sent: Tuesday, March 11, 2008 4:45 PM low dose naltrexone Subject: [low dose naltrexone] LDN and diahrea Since starting my LDN I have had an increase in bowl movements (6-7x/day)and diarrhea. Guest guest
-BTW, my appetite has been reduced tremendously. I was thinking it was maybe because I am so ill, but I am even more encouraged now that I see it is a possible side effect of LDN> I have lost 4 pounds!! Guest guest
Do galbladder problems run in your family? Do you notice an increase in symptoms when you have something fatty? I have IBD issues and have learned to stay away from soy, gluten, refined sugars (anything other than honey and fruit), caffeine, and dairy. Pharmax also makes some great probiotics that are gluten, diary, yeast, and corn free. I JUST started the LDN and have been off all of the mentioned things for a year+ (3 in the case of dairy) so am hoping I won't get any increased stools. Guest guest
Are you taking anything to help you sleep? I took 5HTP after starting LDN because of the sleep issues, and I developed horrible runs for about 10 days. Turns out that’s a side effect of 5HTP. Once I stopped it, the runs went away. Guest guest
NOPE, my sleep disturbance was only for a couple of days. Now it is gone, and I sleep better than I have in years!!!I increased quicker than most, or what is recommended. In 12 days, I am up to 3.5 mg. I did this only because the sleep disturbances affects me so very much, that I am almost non-functioning. I am also very obese at 5'0" and 228 lbs. I figured I would need more than someone who is 125 lbs anyway. So far, it has worked, and I only had sleep disturbance when LDN initially entered my system, not with each increase. I also have been very ill with acute bronchitis, a sinus infection, and on the verge of double ear infections, so the diarrhea could be from illness. (or the type of diarrhea,... I have battled basic loose stools for 15 years)And I don't recommend anyone increase as quickly as I have unless they have their doctor's approval.Peace and love to all,Saundra RenzEarth, protect her for she is our life!!! Guest guest
I had been diagnosed as having IBD. During a colonoscopy the Dr. did a biopsy and it came back positive for Lymphocytic Colitis. He said he also checked for gluten allergy and that was negative. So it may be beneficial to ask for it the next time you have a colonoscopy. I figure the LDN will help that too. Actually,it seems to be helping. I've onl;y been on it about 10 days. It seemed worse the first wk. but is better now. I started taking it mainly for MS.
