Guest guest
Hi, My name is Johanna. My daughter Tatijana was diagnosed with plagio at 8 months but as of other things going on we were not able to get her banded until she was 19 months old. She is now 21 months old and has been in the band for 2 months. We have had wonderful results already. Her face is almost symetrical as well as her ears. She still has a small flat spot in the back left side but it has gotten much much better than it was. I am very happy that we went ahead and did the band anyway even starting so late. Tatijana loves her band. She gets mad at me when I take it off of her to clean. She adjusted very well to it and we have had no problems with her and sleeping or anything. Hope this helps. Johanna, Tatijana's mom 06/26/99 DOC band since 01/29/01 >Our , 11 months old, has just been diagnosed with plagio. We've >been concerned about her head shape since she was born, but I guess our >pediatrician never thought it was serious enough to worry about. >We had never heard of this condition before and sure were not aware of the >helmet for correction. We are feeling so disappointed about the fact >that no one ever mentioned the head band to us before now and we are >so afraid it is too late. Guest guest
I have had such a terrible week-As some of you know I lost my job as a flight attendant 2 wks. ago because my airline went bankrupt. My insurance was going to pay for my explant on Dec.10 in Denver but now I don't have any ins. so I've been trying to scrape up the $8,000 from family and friends. In the meantime I've been leaving E-mails and phone messages for my Dr. (Huang) because I haven't spoken to her yet even though I've made the surgery date. I made the date because I want to get better so badly (I have terrible all over joint and muscle pain) I figured that I would get ahold of her before my trip just to talk to her about my worries and health problems. Anyway, after 2 weeks of trying she E-mailed me and said that she would do my surgery but she thinks that it's better for me to find someone here in Las Vegas instead of traveling to see her. I just feel very confused and alone. I was hoping to find a surgeon who would make me feel a little important and let me know that the surgery would be OK and that I shouldn't be worried. I feel very insecure right now and I want to feel good about this explant. I haven't bought my ticket yet. Should I go ahead and go to Denver and just hope for the best? I know she's a good doctor. She wrote that she doesn't know anything about detoxing and I'm worried about finding someone to help me with that. Should I start from scratch and try to find someone else? I just want my life back! I'm so frightened that it's never going to happen. Worrying about getting new health ins. and this explant has been causing me even more pain. I've been so depressed. Does anyone have any advice? Marie has been helping me so much and I'm grateful to her.Let me know if you have any suggestions. Thank you. Guest guest
Daryl, There is no doubt that you are between a rock and a hard place. I am so sorry..... I am surprised that Dr. Huang would be that cavalier about your upcoming surgery and even suggest that you find someone here in Vegas! I have to tell you, I really don't feel good about recommending anyone here. I know that Angelika Mattoni came here to Vegas from Virginia to see Dr. Steve Gordon, and I was with her in her hotel room, and I have to say that it looked like he did a good job. She looked great. He removed the implants en bloc, came to take out her drains in her hotel room for her, and she really loved him. However, (as many of our regular members will remember), there was a big blow up on the group and Angelika left after someone alerted us to the fact that Dr. Gordon was listed on some medical board in Georgia for botched surgeries or something. She took it very personally. He is totally into doing implants, won't admit implants cause problems, his office people can be horrible, as Marie will testify, so who knows? Also, I saw the implants he took out of her, and they definitely had the scar tissue around them, so it appears he did a total capsulectomy, which is a good thing. Anyway, just throwing that out there for you, in case you are tempted to stay in Vegas. You would definitely have to make up your own mind about him. Personally, I would still see Dr. Huang, as she is very good, but I can see why you are hesitating with her email to you. But, the bottom line is that you need those things out of you, you need them out as soon as possible, you've got help there in Denver lined up, and if you can just get through this, you can move forward onto the next phase of healing. I don't want you to let this one thing make you back down, Daryl. The sooner this is over, the better for you. Let me know what you decide! And if there is anything I can do to help, please call me. Guest guest
Darryl: Hi. You need to make a decision either way. What you forgot to tell folks here though is Haung did call you back, not once but twice. While I know you did not get the warm and fuzzy feeling from Lorraine and Haung (which BTW is unfortunate), I'd be more concerned with the results. It would be nice to have both, but for me results matter more. e's no fool -- she would not recommend Huang if she wasn't good. Best wishes getting insurance. Check with the companies that I told you about. LM
Guest guest
Oh balls! Not Gordon! Kolb's the one who posted (and sent the group a link) that he had issues in Ga. Evidently there's a file on him with the Georgia Board of Medicine. My experience with this asshole and his staff was pretty unpleasant to say the least. To think I flew from Phoenix to see him..... Angelika is lucky her results are good. I'm glad things worked out for her. LM
Guest guest
I know Marie, I well remember the uproar on the group from this. Daryl needs to make her mind up for herself though and if she can't get to Denver, there are precious few ps's here in Vegas I could even tell her to go see, except maybe Dr. Zamboni, (who I heard has the most disgusting bedside manners--women have vigorously groaned when I mentioned his name). At least Angelika was very pleased with her results, and from what I saw, Gordon got them out right. I wonder how Angelika is doing? Anybody ever hear from her? Guest guest
Haung IS kind and compassionate. The thing is, you don't know this until you SEE her. She called Darryl twice and was not able to talk to her because Darryl was not available to speak to her. Lorraine explained to Darryl the Haung does not have much time to spend on the phone. I don't know that Feng or any other PS will always consult with patients via phone before they come out to see them. My PS did as did two other PS's from SLC. The thing is Haung did call twice, so the effort was made, to say otherwise is a misinterpretation of events. I can't fault a doc for not wanting to continue playing phone tag--she's too busy for that. On the other hand, Lorraine could have been more helpful but that's hard to do when one is not consistent. I feel for Daryl and do want to see things work out for her and will help in any way that I can.But reality needs to be put into perspective here. I know e and I have tried in earnest to make explantation with a good doc (not only with Haung I told her about other PS's too) a reality for Darryl. The rest is up to her. Guest guest
I agree with . It's not just about being surrounded by the "pro-implant" scene, but these folks are fundamentally dishonest and one is asking for trouble going to see him. When I think of the lies, trickery and deceit they pulled on me last Feb, it makes me sick. Yeah, he's cheaper than Feng and Huang (I think Ang paid about 5,500) for an explant and a lift, but I'd rather cough up the 8,000 and go to Huang. Huang is 6,500 if you have insurance. In MY opinion, I think it's lame to charge self payers more. But 8,000 is not that bad. I paid 8,500 in 98 for a mastopexy (and implants) from hell, so 8,000 to get them out and a classy mastopexy is, as I said, not too bad. Guest guest
Daryl I am sooo sorry that this has happened to you. I have to tell you that I know what you mean about wanting someone kind and compassinate to remove the implants. This was my feeling too, and I also had other specific things that had to be there in the PS I chose or I would not go to them, which is why I spent the most money to get the best results that for me, worked out great. I would not worry so much though about the fact that Haung doesn't have a protocol. Remeber if you have been reading this site for awhile the only real protocol that many of us who are better now used, is to follow some guidlines from a website, and mainly just take charge ourselves. The best I can gather about detox is that even if you have a PS who claims to have a detox program, the bottom line is unless you live near them, you are going to go home and have to be on your own anyhow. We can all help you with this issue and guide you through it together. TRUST ME THE BEST THING YOU CAN DO IS GET THE IMPLANTS OUT and go to the best surgeon you can get to. In your case if Huang is the only one near you that you can afford, then she should be good enough. The detox is going to be after the surgery and you will have to do that yourself anyway. I did my own, Patty did her own, we are all proof that you can get better on your own, and like I said bottom line is that you don't need a PS to sell you on some detox program you can get free right here. You can get supplements anywhere, and you can do simple things like eat right and exercise yourself. I Had the chronic pain everywhere, I was on the strongest meds around, thought I would never get better, look at me now! I am working out everyday and feeling great. You can get there don't let this get you down. I do understand though, wanting a PS that is kind and compassionate. That was why I spent the extra to go to Cleveland. Guest guest
Dr Gordon is a creepy dude and I would not touch him with a ten foot pole. The fact is that Angelika had perfect breasts and would have looked good no matter who she went to as long as they new how to do a good vertical lift. Yes Dr Gordon did a good job on her, but I am sure she would have looked just as good if she had went to a number of others, and to me, it is not worth it to be surrounded by all that positive implant crap he is involved in, including the fact that he is a fda approved silicone gel ps, forget that creep ----- Original Message ----- From: ~*Patty*~ Sent: Wednesday, November 20, 2002 4:59 PM Subject: Re: I need advice By the way, Daryl, you can see Angelika's explant results on www.explantation.com.
