Guest guest
Hi Aylah, (my computer also recently died!) My suggestion is not to rush your decision, change your appointment or cancel till you are absolutly SURE of what you want to do about the MMR. Welcome to the group.... Chelly Mommy to (11/88), Trenton (8/99) and Gillian (11/03) MMR vaccine Hi All, I am Aylah. I joined a while back, but my computer immediately died, and a whole bunch of other things...well...you know how it is. I am a single mom of one year old twins. I selectively vaccinate my children and they are " due " for the MMR. Wednesday. I know it is short notice, but I am just looking for brief (if possible!) pros/cons. My take on it is no. It seems as though the illnesses themselves are not THAT dangerous as a rule and the measles part wears off and can be ineffective in creating immunity. Right now I am able to stay at home with them and the long term is to home school, so hopefully they are not doing the big dare care thing, nor the public achool thing. But I don't know the big picture. I do day care out of my home, but only one or two at a time. That is a consideration, their contact with other kids/population. I have somewhat pushy but openminded, in that they listen, pediatricians. I put them off a couple of months ago telling them I needed to finish my research, but again, am just wanting any last minute considerations. Thank you, Aylah
Guest guest
Aylah, You are not doing your children any favors by leaving this till hte last minute You have to research There is nothing safe about singles eithers Start with my MMR pages http://www.nccn.net/~wwithin/mmr.htm mmr doesn't given immunity at all. so it cannot wear off The sensitization wears If you care about your children as much as you do buying a care you will research this a bit more At 03:10 AM 04/12/2004 -0000, you wrote: >Hi All, >I am Aylah. Guest guest
Hi Chelly, Thanks, I am not rushing into any decision at all. Just merely wanting that last confirmation, to make sure I didn't leave anything out. I already changed my appointment the last time, so I confortable doing that (yea for me!!). Thanks for your welcome and support. Guest guest
Hi Sherri, Thanks for your feedback. I am not leaving this until last minute. I have done research. Again, I was looking for any info that I just might have missed. This is the the " last stop " if you will before I go in with my children. The articles that are listed within the last couple of days on this group validated the research that I have already done. Interesting comment, though, about car shopping. Never have done that... I haven't considered single vaccination on the MMR, thanks for that, too. Thanks again for the response. Aylah > >Hi All, > >I am Aylah. Guest guest
Aylah, Are your twins 12 months or 15 months old? It has been documented in the medical journals that the uptake of the MMR is much better at 15 months. This vaccine has been discussed frequently over at the Mothering.com Vaccination Forum. You can use the boards search feature to read past threads. Lots of info. Guest guest
Hi Carla, When you say uptake - what do you mean exactly. Generally, in medical journals, vaccine uptake means the number of people accepting vaccines and has nothing to do with the actual effectiveness of a vaccine. So your use of the word here confuses me. Can you please explain what you meant? Thanks, Meryl Re: MMR vaccine Uptake????? Why would you want to use it at all? Guest guest
The MMR was the vaccine that caused my friend's son to start having seizures that eventually led to brain damage and a diagnosis of Asperger's (a form of autism). He was nearly 2 when he had his. I don't believe age decreases the potential for damage. Kay ************************ Are your twins 12 months or 15 months old? Guest guest
Hi Everybody, I wanted to ask for thoughts since I know a lot of you are well- versed on vaccines..... I have struggled with severe candida, chemical sensitivity and severe allergies for about 17 years. When I was a child I had signs of immune and hormonal problems but nothing I would consider major until after I was forced to have an MMR vaccine in May of 1989 in college (have it or leave school was the order) when I was 20 yrs. old. I became very ill right after the shot - diarrhea, vomiting, etc. At the time we thought it was food poisoning but looking back now I know it was that shot. My health declined steadily after that point w/worsening candida, allergies (became allergic to all my pets and had to give them away), then i developed mono and I was really never the same. Life has been a real struggle ever since and now I find myself with chronic fatigue, hypoadrenal and hypothyroid to boot. I looked back at my immunization records and found that I received the MMR shot 5 times before the age of 6 and Measles shots 4 times on top of that (5 of these were before I was even 1 year old). I have no explanation as to why these were given so many times and my current Dr. agrees that I was over-vaccinated doesn't know why any Dr. would do this. I have read some about brain auto-antibodies in response to the MMR vaccine and also intestinal damage. I have not had any tests to determine if these vaccines may have caused damage in me - I would like to, but my finances don't allow it. My questions: ** Has anyone had tests done for themselves or their children? ** Is there anything anyone knows of that I can do now to mitigate the damage that may have been done by these vaccines, short of supplements - probiotics, anti-virals, etc. - and in general supporting the immune system....? THANK YOU!!!! Bonnie
Guest guest
I was also over-vaccinated. I'm guessing that when my mother took my younger sister in they talked her into giving me another round and that she probably had my sister's records with her but didn't have mine, so just went along with it. She also had a childhood friend who had polio, so I think that affected her decision-making ability regarding vaccines. I also had some extra vaccines when I went to South America as an exchange student. S S Hi Everybody, I wanted to ask for thoughts since I know a lot of you are well- versed on vaccines..... Guest guest
Hi there! Just a few suggestions to you before you give the MMR vaccine. Do some research on measles, mumps, and rubella before you vax. Honestly, the more you know about these diseases..the less scary they become....which help you feel more comfortable NOT getting the vaccine. Rubella is SO MILD it often goes unnoticed...as do the mumps. People get these diseases w/o even knowing it. There are NO complications to get rubella (usually, unless in VERY VERY VERY VERY rare circumstances) and the vaccine is only given to keep pregnant women from getting it in the first three months of pregnancy (can cause problems then). So the rubella vaccine does NO GOOD to your child..it only interrupts the cyclical spread of rubella for pregnant women. Measles....really not that serious in healthy children with healthy immune systems. Check out the book The vaccine guide by Randall Neausteadter (I'm not sure if that's spelled right). It's a great reference for understanding each of the childhood diseases that are vaccinated for. Also..if your child would get these diseases when they're older, there are more complications...so even if you WOULD vaccinate....their " so called immunity " would most likely be gone by the time they're an adult....so if the vax doesn't work anyway..they might as well get these diseases if they're going to get them as a child instead of as an adult. Just a few things to think about before you vaccinate with this very dangerous vaccine! Check out the VAERS website....this is one of the vaxes very controversial as far as autism and other immune system complications go... Good look making your own informed decision!!! *hugs* Tara > > Hi, Sommer. The MMR is an extremely risky vaccine. Many parents believe their children's autism began after the MMR shot. One can believe these thousands and thousands of parents, who like yourself, know their children. Or you can believe those who make money from selling vaccines. Good of you to research it first. > > Other parents, myself included, have children who did not become autistic, but other major problems arose. My son was healthy until 10 days after his MMR--then sudden asthma/allergies and years of poor health, stress and financial expense (least important, obviously). > > What's worse, it was for nothing because VACCINES DON'T WORK. Guest guest
Read the package insert! - http://users.adelphia.net/~cdc/Vaccines.htm#MMR The package insert for this vaccine states that it may cause Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus or Type 1 Diabetes. Your doctor may tell you " Sure it might, but the risks are so low. " Look at the unbelievable rise in the number of children diagnosed with this incurable disease. :-( I stopped vaxxing in 1999 and have never looked back. The vaccines scare me a lot more than the diseases. )0(~~~)0(~~~)0( Mom to Brittany, born 08/31/93, dx'd IDDM 05/28/01; , born 06/28/97; Shayna, born 06/01/00; and Thalea, born 06/24/07.
