Guest guest
Ok two docs looked at him to be sure, and it's folliculitis. So they prescribed him Keflex (allergic to `cillins) 2x a day for 10 days. I am not thrilled. He's already yeasty and with that it'll get worse. We were supposed to do a round this weekend too. They told me to call back if he gets yeasty and they will give him diflucan. (if? It's more like when) They said since often times folliculitis is a result of skin bacterias like staph they treat it systemically. So I am unsure if treating this topically would be a good idea. Has anyone treated this without script antibiotics. He's already on GSE and probiotics, which we had jacked up before seeing the doc. > I have never seen this before, but my son had a rash on his groin that > was little tiny red dots and itchy. Guest guest
Hi, Jan. Just thinking out loud here, do you think GSE and probiotics could make a bacteria problem worse? It seemed that when I gave GSE too long, I had to give things like OLE and Goldenseal for bacteria. It didn't mean there was no more yeast, I just had to target baceria. ....don't want to mess with staph infections. Good luck. a mom to > > Ok two docs looked at him to be sure, and it's folliculitis. > So they prescribed him Keflex (allergic to `cillins) 2x a day for 10 > days. I am not thrilled. Guest guest
They didn't say it was staff, just thought it was regular skin bacteria along with the fact that it was in an abrasive area of the body, where his legs rub, so combine with the head, sweat, rubbing, which clogged up the pores, and them normal skin bacteria...wahlah infection. We have all been using GSE for over a year, off an on, but don't seem to find much bacteria issues as long as we use probiotics and only give GSE when yeast is present. The mention of staph was just a mention that they wanted to do antibiotics as a precaution just in case it was a more serious skin bacteria like staff. I think this whole deal might be due to the heat wave we had and the fact that my son did have yeast there and was itching for a while, along with his never wearing underwear. (a lot of abrasion there) I am going to check into that though. I can't give him OLE it makes his yeast worse and makes him VERY nasty cranky. I will have to see what other antibacterials we could try, once we get through this antibiotic round. Grr...always something! > > > > Ok two docs looked at him to be sure, and it's folliculitis. > > So they prescribed him Keflex (allergic to `cillins) 2x a day for > 10 > > days. I am not thrilled.
