What's his diet like? Can he explain what he's depressed about? Are you

chelating him? Have you done a hair test? What supplements is he on? Is the

depression worse in the winter than the rest of the year?

I have been giveing my 13 yr old boy who is very depressed and can't
control his temper at school 800 mg SamE and vit B6. I am not seeing
results. What else can I give him to help him and keep him off
mainstream medication? Can I also give him tryptophan? Thanks for
your help.
We gave inositol, buiding up to 500 mg once a day to our son for depression.

Temper has responded to chelation, enzymes with and between meals, and yeast

protocol.

He was not allowed to play video games if he didn't agree to a non violent

lifestyle.

Our son displayed a temper after school, and he had been homeschooled before so

we homeschooled again because the stresses of school was too much for him. This

greatly reduced the daily outbursts. He has chemical sensitivity too, so he

could barely keep it together at school, then he would come home and " explode " .

5HTP is something we have used for depression in the past. We had to divide

doses and use smaller amounts, like 25 mg to avoid making him sleepy. I think

we dosed at night.

Talking, letting him pursue interests helped. Unschooling helped, letting him

study when, where and what he wanted. Letting him make choices, like picking

foods, choosing bedtimes, and doing what he wanted to do helped. Giving him

control of all choices that we could possibly turn over to him helped. His own

checking account to spend money as he wished helped.

Cod liver oil and phosphidytlcholine helped with OCD symptoms.

His appetite is not so great, he likes carbs.(ie,pasta, rice)He's

never been chelated and have not done a hair test. It is worse in

the winter since he is at school and he gets teased a lot and that

is what causes behavior outbursts. I've been giving him SamE, vit 6,

and last two days added tryptophan. Am I supposed to give him those

together? Thanks for your help.

Do his moods swing? People with salicylate problems sometimes appear

bipolar, and they are known to get worse in the winter.

If he doesn't swing (is mostly depressed/dragging) another possibility

is Vitamin D. The UVB rays from the sun don't penetrate up here in

the NY area during winter. AFAIK, the vitamin D winter affects most

of the US. So, he might need Vitamin D.

Can you get him to at least drink some vegetable juice or sneak some veggies

into pasta sauce? Is he on any other vitamins? With SAMe you need to make sure

to give B vitamins to keep homocysteine in check.

Does he have any mercury amalgam dental filling? When was his most recent

vaccine? Do you suspect metal issues?

It just dawned on me you mentioned temper too. Are you doing

Magnesium? That's an excellent calming mineral which works well with

B6.

I suggest that you make sure that he is getting some pro-biotics to control

BAD Bacteria and Yeast, these will cause behavior problems.

Dairy seems to be a contributor to attitude with kids when they get older.

I strongly suggest that you consider chelation, do 10 rounds and see if it

helps, you have nothing to loose.

Good Luck !

Thanks for your comments,

He is taking b comlex and extra b6. I will add magnesium, that's

the catch when you give one supplement, you have to give others as

well. He has never been tested for metal toxidity as I have

concentrated on his autistic brother. ahhhh!

If his autistic brother is metal toxic, he probably is, too.
