Guest guest
Hi Annette, My son went through something similiar over the winter. This is what I have learned (for what it is worth). Diflucan kills yeast (not bacteria), probiotics help crowd out the bad bacteria, but does not kill it. Taking an antibiotic kills bacteria (throughout the body)....what you are seeing is die off (from the bacteria). Your son's symptoms are very common for kids going through bacterial die-off. My suggestion is to get some activated charcoal in him. It will help flush the bad guys out. After taking the antibiotic make sure he takes lots of probiotic to supplement the good guys back in there. You may want to do a stool test two weeks after the last day of the antibiotic. Just to make sure there isn't anymore bacteria in there. If there is you have the option to treat it naturally or with another antibiotic. (remember...if you have bacteria in the gut and only treat the yeast...the yeast will die off and the bacteria will grow because they don't have to compete for food) There is also the possibility that your son may be allergic to something in the antibiotic (especially if it is a commercial antibiotic and not from a compounding pharmacy). Commercial Pharmacys use fillers (corn), dyes and aspartame that can really wreck havoc on our kids sensitive systems. If you choose to stop the antibiotics (most ear infections clear up on there own....but it's miserable to watch). Ask you doctor to prescribe Rx ear gel that contains benzocaine (to numb the pain). Works like a charm. Also, I have learned that while chelating you release viruses. Some viruses are attached to metals. Some metals are attached to bacteria. There is always the possibility of detox when you treat yeast/bacteria/metals. I have had great metal pulls just from using diflucan/augmentin. Especially aluminum, tin and lead. I know it's difficult to see your child go through this. Hopefully he will have a quick turnaround. Some children have significant gains after being put on antibiotics (just remember the probiotics after:) Hope this was helpful....Good Luck > > I have done 13 rounds of DMSA/ALA on my 4 year old son. Guest guest
could you or anyone make a recommendation for probiotics...preferably chewable or powder. I used to use Solaray Multidophilus powder a long time ago, but was wondering if there is anything better? thanks, Nahla

Guest guest
Here are two threads that may help - looks like lots of various ideas to work with in both of these....wishing you the best answers. elizabeth post #207973 and post #206338 these are both for the first posts on the threads. > > Do you guys give antibiotics to your children? Did I do the right > thing? ====PS....I think you are doing the best you can, always...and looking for the better ways. so much information and also so many different opinions...I think these type of things are always very hard calls to make. and can feel very overwhelming. there is also a learning curve involved - while sorting thru which of the answers are best for you & your child. and you, ultimately, are the person best equipped to figure that out,yk? Guest guest
year after year it seemed like every fall my daughter would get an ear infection every year It wasnt until I put her on a GFCF diet and started using Transfer Factor plus Glutithione and nutritional supplements where I started seeing a huge difference in her ability to fight of colds, flu, ear infections, and any other types of germs that kids seem pass around quite a bit. She has never had a ear infection since (she used to be sick for a whole month) She gets a cold now and again but the sick time is cut in half. She used to be sick for two weeks now it is about one . Her health is much better thatn it has been. hope this helps eli8591 <eli8591@...> wrote: Here are two threads that may help - looks like lots of various ideas to work with in both of these....wishing you the best answers. elizabeth post #207973 and post #206338 these are both for the first posts on the threads. > > Do you guys give antibiotics to your children? At my house, ear infections were caused by yeast, not bacteria. So giving antibiotics would just make the ear infection worse. Check the ingredients of the antibiotic you are using, see if you notice anything. For example, many antibiotics contain milk products and artificials/dyes. Guest guest
Yeast covers the progress and antibiotics feed yeast. Just keep on doing the probiotics and maybe some yeast killers . . . We've all been there! Barb [ ] Ear infection/antibiotics and regression - Help! I have done 13 rounds of DMSA/ALA on my 4 year old son. We see a DAN and I follow AC protocol. My son has been doing really well. We had a die off of yeast about three weeks ago and have seen some great improvements. This past weekend my son started getting sick. Monday I took him to the Doctors and he had an ear infection and he was put on antibiotics. Today he has seemed to regress. He has no attention, won't look at me or answer me he is repeating things. I could cry. I feel like I work so hard and then this happens. His preschool teacher told me today was not a good day at all. She said this is not the same little boy I know. She went from seeing a typical little boy to now my ASD son. HELP! Can someone please explain why this happens with antibiotics and what I can do to help. I am giving him probiotics and Diflican while he is taking the antibiotic. I will not be doing DMSA this weekend since he is sick. Do you guys give antibiotics to your children? Did I do the right thing? I would love an explaination to why this happens Any advice will be appreciated Annette ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ No virus found in this incoming message. Guest guest
I had a similar experience in May with my son. It took a good 6-8 weeks for him to get back to where he was. I was very determined NOT to use antibiotics but after a 105.2 fever and trip to the emergency room, it was inevitable. > > I have done 13 rounds of DMSA/ALA on my 4 year old son.
