Guest guest
Max just goes to the daycare at my gym and I had such anxiety over bringing him there but not anymore - (walking through the gym is another story) anyway as you will find there are all types there - there is a boy who wears a police helmet everyday, in fact he tried to pull Max's band right off his head shouting " I want it! " and there is a little girl who only waers nightgowns there and makes the babysitters call her Pocahantas - so as far as the band - I think day care providers have seen it all. I showed them how to put it on and to check for any spots (if he pulled it off) and a few moms asked me what it was for and I was happy to explain. Overall, my anxiety far outweighed reality - it wasn't so bad but I only leave him for an hour or two - Hope it helps a little - Good luck Amy (max's mom)

We had mom's night out so I brought a picture of in his helmet and explained plagio. The next day we had a pizza party with all the kids and moms. Not one child, 5 or under, said one thing the entire time, that I heard, about his helmet. I was amazed!! Since still has his share of spills while walking and trips a lot, one mother asked if it was for his balance and learning to walk. Explained plagio again! Kids are so resilient! Guest guest
Hello, sorry I didn't catch your name. My 14 month old daughter just started daycare and so far so good. The daycare workers are very interested in helping in any way possible, but fortunately she really doesn't require any special assistance unless she is being " cute " and taking it off!!! Since she is so young, the other kids don't seem to notice or care. Actually I think it will help her in the long run by saving her from those occasional falls and bumps! The one thing I do have to do is pack a hat for her to wear if they take them for a walk. She has to have her head covered when she is outdoors if it is sunny. Have you posted here before? If not, then welcome! Marci (Mom to ) Oklahoma
Guest guest
Corrie-- I'm sure that you've heard from lots of people at this point, but just another vote to say " go for it " with daycare. My son has had his helmet since December 15 and has been in daycare almost every day with it. It was actually the director who first suggested that he may need it. is now 13 months old and none of the older kids has ever made fun of him, etc. (He does have a big 4 year old brother at the center who lets kids know what it's for.) Almost all of the parents have asked about it, but I'd rather tell them than let them wonder what's up! I've gotten to the point where if people stare--then let them. Some ask, and I'm glad to tell them. We have to realize that it's in the best interest for our child to be wearing the helmet and in the long run, it really is for such a short time out of their lives. The best thing is that the helmet has been a great protective device as my son has been toddling around. I'm actually aprehensive about taking it off for good since I'm afraid that he'll have no fear and just going banging into everything! Good luck! Feel free to e-mail me at any time! -Cheryl (' mom) ----------------- Forwarded Message: Subj: any kids in daycare with a band or helmet?
