Guest guest
I beleive 1500mg of calcium should be enough. I've read that for some children these pains might be the sign of other mineral deficiencies, like magnesium or potassium. My son had similar bone pains, usually by the end of round. I supposed potassium deficiency. He could not have bananas which are a good source of potassium so I just replaced table salt with low sodium salt. It is a mix of sodium chloride and potassium chloride. No complains since that. Guest guest
Check his magnesium as well. Barb [ ] 5 year old with bone pain Hello, I started chalating my 5 year (39 pounds) old following AC protocol. We did 5 rounds (12.5mg per dose every 4 hours for 3 days then 4 days off). We took a break just for a week because he had flu symptoms and we wanted to give his body a break. We did his 6th round this past weekend. My son was very tired this time and he complained about bone pain (fingers, wrists, arm ....), i do give him at least 1500mg calcium per day in 3 doses on the off days. 1) Do you you think the calcium is enough or he heeds a higher dose 2)What is the best form of calcium that the body absorbs to the maximum (I use kirkman chewables). 3) Do i need to give him calcium also on chelation days to avoid any problems. 4) I was going to increase his dose to 18mg this coming cycle, do you think this is wise? If not why? Thank you so much for your generous help.
Guest guest
> I am not an expert in chelation, but I would definitely take this seriously. Yes, I do think one needs calcium on days off. Yes, some calcium types are reportedly not absorbed by some people. Sometimes, calcium is not absorbed due to lack of other vitamins and minerals. I would make sure he is getting a lot of different vitamins and minerals. And, if possible, take him to a doctor. Probably a DAN doctor would be best, but if not possible, have a regular Doc take his calcium levels. I would also do some research on the net concerning this. Sorry to sound overly cautious, but I just believe things like this need to be explored, even if it is just to give you peace of mind. You might need to increase nutrients that help with calcium absorption tho, like magnesium, vitamin K, vitamin D, and I just noticed on the back of my lysine bottle yesterday, that lysine helps with calcium absorption. > 3) Do i need to give him calcium also on chelation days to avoid any > problems. Was he complaining of the pain only on the chelation days, or on the " off " days also? Dana
Guest guest
I get this while on dmsa but I was exposed to A LOT of Lead as kid. I take more calcium while on a round. This seems to help. I take and give my kids calcium every day. Also magnesium, K, zinc, D, etc. All the stuff for bones, along with whatever else in on Andy's list. You should be supplementing constantly on rounds and off. This helps keep side effects minimal. And provides the body with things it needs to rebuild and replace the metals. Personally, I would hold his dose for a few rounds. See if you can be sure things are going along ok. That he is regaining his energy and such. A virus can knock you down for a while. Could the bone pain be residual of that virus he had? My bones ache like crazy if I get sick. We use Kirkman Calcium w/D powder, so that form should be ok for absorbability. But keep in mind kids need things like CLO or A w/D and K, and Mag and phoshorus etc to build bone. I have heard from more than one person of bone pain on dmsa..adults anyway. Probably due to removing lead from the bones. You mentioned fatigue, is he on lots of other vitamins on the list? How about immune support? Guest guest
The vitamin K group has some interesting info about calcium and vitamin D. I haven't supplemented calcium for my 4 yr old (GFCF diet) in 2 years. I keep track of his levels via blood and urine tests. > >>My son was very tired this time and he > > complained about bone pain (fingers, wrists, arm ....), i do give > > him at least 1500mg calcium per day in 3 doses on the off days. > > > > 1) Do you you think the calcium is enough or he heeds a higher dose > > > That is a relatively high dose of calcium, especially for a 5yo, so I > would not increase it. Guest guest
Hi! I was wondering, how much magnesium and C he is taking. That seems like a good size dosage of calcium....my thinking is that it might not be being absorbed correctly. Do you give K2? At my house we give about the same dose of magnesiulm as calcium...and a large dose of C. My kids take at least 5 grams of C, but I know others can't tolerate that much. We have found if the K2 level isn't where it should be...then the calcium isn't being absorbed and there is bone pain. Just my two cents. > Hello, > > I started chalating my 5 year (39 pounds) old following AC protocol. > We did 5 rounds (12.5mg per dose every 4 hours for 3 days then 4 > days off).
