Guest guest
Hello, I am no expert, but you need to read Cutler's book to realize that just because no mercury is being excreted doesn't mean you have no mercury. I have two daughters who met the counting rules for Cutler's protocol yet showed no mercury in their hair samples. I plan on seeing a Dr. who is knowledgeable in the Cutler protocol to do chelating. Don't listen to the Dr.s who don't know. They are the majority out there sad to say. Guest guest
It would have left the urine 2 weeks after exposure and moved to your fatty tissues. Try a porphyrin test (www.labbio.net) or a hair test (look for the scatter pattern). Barb [ ] 24 hour urine collection sample detected no mercury, is this test reliable? hello everyone, I suspected that i am mercury poisoned, beacuse i am exposed to element mercury vapor in my lab (chemistry PhD student)for a long time though in very low concentration, . a fresh headache last for around 2 month recently, the headache is not stable, sometime good, sometime worse,I did a 24 hour urine test, the result is negative, my doctor told me that mercury in my urine is zero. anyone have any idea on this? i would appreciate any response. Guest guest
Did they give you a chelation agent before they did the sample? Or did they just test your pee? Mercury only show in blood for a short time following live exposure. After that it's in your cells and organs and brain. Urine testing and blood testing is useless for determining mercury toxicity. You would need a hair test or uring porphyrin test from a French Lab. Since you worked around mercury vapor, you are toxic. Not much further testing would be useful. Just expensive. Read the fiele section of this board for information on how to test/treat Hg poisoning. > > hello everyone, > I suspected that i am mercury poisoned, beacuse i am exposed to element > mercury vapor in my lab (chemistry PhD student)for a long time though > in very low concentration, . a fresh headache last for around 2 month > recently, the headache is not stable, sometime good, sometime worse,I > did a 24 hour urine test, the result is negative, my doctor told me > that mercury in my urine is zero. anyone have any idea on this? i > would appreciate any response. >
Guest guest
That generally means your body is not good at getting rid of the toxic metals/vapors you're exposed to. You need a DDI hair elements test and then to apply the counting rules. See the FAQs of this list. You can order one yourself through DLS (Direct Lab Services) if your doctor won't order this particular test (counting rules were developed specifically for this one). They're on special this month or if you mention this e-group. How many mercury amalgam dental fillings do you have? The chemistry lab need to figure out better safety equipment before you (and others) fry too many brain cells. Suggest that the class watch the University of Calgary " this is a brain on mercury vapor " video. Guest guest
Challenge tests are dangerous, not particularly useful and NOT recommended due to the risk of pushing more mercury into the brain. S S Hi, I agree with the previous post. My DMSA challenge urine test showed a mercury level of 30 times the maximum level, while my 24 hour urine test showed close to zero. _______________________________________________ Join Excite! - http://www.excite.com The most personalized portal on the Web! Guest guest
How about doing a collection while doing the Cutler protocol to see how much is coming out. Has anyone done this?? Guest guest
Yes, this is ok, just remember that excretion varies within and between rounds and that different chelators cause excretion through different routes (some via stool, some via urine, others can tell you which is which. Guest guest
Your Lab should have booths where any hazardous vapor is pulled in and dealt with, can you say OSHA ? As everyone on this list knows I am very anti Mercury .. Having said that .... A large percentage of persistent headaches are caused by de-hydration .. I suffered from headaches for years, I even went in and insisted on a brain scan ! One day I had an appointment and my Dr. was not there, I got some OLD Dr. He sat and read my file and talked to me for a while and told me " never pass a drinking fountain without forcing down all you can handle " . I haven't had a serious headache since ! Good Luck !
