Lily:

I don't blame you for being bummed.

Just so you know, many babies get a bump, or swelling in the gap where the band closes. Hanna had this too. It was just tissue related, and went away within days of her graduation. Check the message archives for more discussion.

Please let us know what your neuro says, but I'm sure everything is fine.

I would continue with the band, at least until you talk with your neuro (as long as the redness is gone). Good luck!

Subject: A little dissappointed, not sure what to do (long)

Hi All,It's been a while since I last posted. I've been caught up in some big cut backs at work and have subsequently been laid off. In a way this is a good thing. I've been on a personal leave since Drew was born and was debating whether or not to go back to work, so now my decision has been made for me! Still, it's been hectic trying to tie up loose ends and get my benefits in order. The last time I posted things were going well, we were told Drew had 6 more weeks in the band. But, over the last few weeks, we've been noticing that it appears like Drew's head is growing sideways (where the gap in the DOC band is). He had some bossing on the side of his head from the start, and it just happens to be where the gap in the band is. I don't know why they put the gap on the side that needed to be flattened. Anyway, I brought it up with CT again today and they recommended I see the neurosurgeon ASAP just to make sure it's okay. They gave me Drew's mold to take with me. Well, here's where I got dissappointed. I really don't see much if any difference between the mold and Drew's head today. I thought we were seeing improvement, maybe I imagined it, but the change really isn't that much. Granted, his head was mild/moderate to begin with. I guess I just expected to really see a difference. So now, I'm just not sure whether or not to keep the band on. Drew has a big red spot on his forehead (the original reason we went to CT today). We've only got three weeks left. We see the neurosurgeon next week. I don't know if we'll see any more improvement and I'm worried about the bossing on the side of his head getting worse. Any thoughts? Thanks as always.I'm just bummed.LilyDrew banded 1/19/01

Lily,

I am sorry to hear that you have been having a rough time in so many ways. I

am glad to hear that you will be able to stay with your baby even if it did

not come in the way you were expecting. I was VERY sorry to hear that you

have been worried about the band. I would definately wait until after

talking to the neuro to decide what to do next. The neuro should be able to

guide you from here.

I wish I had some words of wisdom for you, but the best I can do is send good

vibes your way. You will make it!
