How much ZINC should I give

How much zinc picolinate can I give my 7yo (65#) and 5yo (40#)?

Spacing out the zinc in low doses (15mg) seems not to have as good

of an effect as giving one 50mg at once. Also, I have zinc sulfate

topical cream (Kirkman). Can that be combined with the picolinate

and used without risk of toxicity?

My son(7yo) has had this problem with chewing on things. Mostly his

shirts. He doesn't do this all the time, but about 50-75% of the

time. The teacher and I have noticed that when he does this, his

behavior is worse at school.

He has gotten into trouble and lost some fun activities because of

this. Not to mention the negative affect of being around his peers.

Plus the principal doesn't seem to care that the chewing and

behavior are linked, and that my son can't seem to control it.

I found on another website that it is a zinc deficiency. So, I gave

him 50mg of zinc Thursday morning. No chewing, no bad behavior while

at school. He did start chewing later on in the day. I gave him some

Friday in smaller doses throughout the day. No chewing and good

behavior. Saturday good. And, then Sunday forgot to give before

church, and he headbutted me during service and aggravating other

children. I gave him zinc when we got home and he was calm the rest

of the day.

I'm hoping this is the problem. The DAN doctor said it could be. I

had been giving him zinc drops for several months because he was low

and then stopped a couple months ago because I ran out. Seems to be

a big mistake.

Thanks.
