Welcome to the group! I'm glad you found us. I can say that without this

group I have no idea how I would have made it this far!!! It sounds like

things have been moving very quickly for you and that is GREAT! You caught it

early and that will make a HUGE difference. We also noticed the tort and

plagio at four months, but couldn't convince our ped to refer us until our

daughter was 7 months old. It took two more months to get through the

referal, 3-D CT, casting and finally to get fitted in the helmet when

was 9 months old!! You must have a pretty good ped! Please do keep us posted

and again, welcome!!

Hi-

Am new to the list - just joined earlier this week - my son Graham is

4 mths old (10/16/00)and was diagnosed with Torticollis and

Plagiocephaly a month ago - we have been to the pediatric

neurosurgeon (who ruled out premature suture closure through touch

only....) and are now under the care of a pediatric physical

therapist. Like several of you who have posted, Graham has a left

torticollis - his flat spot is on the back rightside - he also has

brachiocephaly (think that is right) He is considered a moderate

case - with his measurements being 11mm off....

We have been in a dilemma of whether or not to band him and think

with all of your words, we have decided to go forth with it. If the

medical capabilities exist to correct his head, however slight, we

feel we should go forward.

We are undergoing the precertification process with insurance right

now - they are requesting a letter of medical necessity which our

neurosurgeon is providing. I also called my OB and asked him to write

a letter for the file - Graham was 22 1/2 inches at birth so he was

very cramped in utero.... I will let you all know how things progress.

Anyway, just wanted to introduce ourselves and let ya'll know how

helpful this site has been over the past few days for us.

- mom of Graham

suburb of Cleveland who now has a new DOC Band clinic!
