People usually take their children to a plastic surgeon, cranial-facial

specialist or nuerosurgeon. I think that we even have a few whose ped

diagnosed and is helping with treatment! We saw a neurosurgeon.

Anyone else have a different experience?

Hi! We live in south Jersey (10 minutes over the bridge from PA) and

my son sees Dr. Bartlett (plastic surgeon) at Children's Hosp

in Philadelphia. He's the one that sent us to Total Care Rehab in

Havertown, PA for the Starband. Does everyone take their children to

a plastic surgeon, though?? 's neurologist (was monitoring the

torticollis) said to go to Dr. Bartlett, but a friend of mine who is

having her baby's plagiocephaly checked out was sent to a

neurosurgeon, not a plastic surgeon. I guess there's a couple

schools of thought. Hope this helps!

Stasia,

I've been wondering what part of PA you're from. I'm near Hershey and

my son has seen a neurosurgeon at Hershey Med and a craniofacial

surgeon at Children's Hospital in Philly. They are both advocates of

putting kids with plagio in helmets/bands, but only during the first

year. I seem to remember that your child is younger. The dr. at

Hershey Med is Dr. Kanev and the one at CHOP is Dr.

Bartlett.

Hi Stasia!

We live in Northeast Philadelphia (right over the Betsy Ross

Bridge). I am very pleased with our nuerosurgeon. Even though he

felt our twins plagio was mild enough to wait it out, he did write us

the script for the bands because he never wants to go against parents

wishes (I guess he knows that sometimes we really do know more!) His

name is Dr. Neff at St. 's Hospital for Children.

The twins just got casted today for their helmets. The place we went

to has been making helmets for 20 years and I feel very comfortable

with them. They are Harry J. Lawall & Son (anyone else had

experience with them?) We worked with Bud, a very friendly and

humorous man. Here in Philly they are located on ford Av., but

they do have offices in Newtown Square, PA; Reading, PA; Willow

Grove, PA; Wilmington, DE, Lawrenceville, NJ; Vineland, NJ; Cape May

Court House, NJ. Ok, I don't know why I just rambled on and on with

that info....maybe it will be useful to someone!

All right, before I start going off on yet another tangent I will end

this post. Again thank you everyone for all the support!
