In my early twenties, I had my first rheumatic " episode. " hands were the worst - alligator skin, unable to use any standard cleaner,etc...I was shampooing kids's hair with gloves on. (Yours, mine & ours setup, which meant 4-5 children under the age of 6 - it was crazy...... so, I spent a good ten years, learning to use clothespins (unable to zip ziplocs), and giving myself an extra hour to wake up, etc, etc. I read magazines geared to older folks to find tips that worked for me...crazy. The five to ten years after that I " guinea-pig-ed " myself with supps & herbs, and came up with a core set of supps that worked - which did not include vit c - in fact, very intolerant of any vit c supplementation.... these days, if I feel the slightest twinge in my hips, I know I need to up my cal, mag, zinc OR I have not been taking my cal, mag, zinc as I should be... Ironically, I considered all my rheumatic symptoms chronic - everything I came across said so...it was a very unexpected bonus to lose that pain & inmobility (woo-hoo,freedom!!! is what it felt like). (for the curious, an ulcer & the threat of gallbladder surgery prompted my " guinea pig " days) I don't know why this is so for me, I only know it is. ....I tried vit c off & on over the years - thinking I " need " to incorporate this - and finally decided enough was enough & have left it alone for quite awhile now, with no plans to try it again. elizabeth elizabeth
Guest guest
This does not mean all cases of Arthritis are caused by a Deficiency of Vitamin C; it means some cases of Arthritis may be an actual deficieny of Vitamin C; because this causes pain in the joints. Arthitis is caused by other Nutritional Deficiciens as you say. Also; other nutrients help retain the Vitamin C you ingest. Here is another tip: A Lack of Vitamin D can cause Ricketts; also known as: swollen wrists and ankles and other spots. Only Vitamin D reverses Ricketts. Yet how many cases of Rickets are misdiagnosed as juevinile arthritis? And Vitamin D is one of the least expensive supplements on the market! Thank for your reply. Guest guest
We just discovered that my husband is deficient in vit. D. This is likely to be common among CF folks (we're long-term vegans) and those living in northern latitudes. One site I read says that it's essentially impossible to get enough vit D from sunlight in Boston from Nov-Feb. I added it to my supplements, too since I eat almost exactly what my husband eats. It may very well help my body stop wasting calcium. I've already added K2. Vitamin D deficiency is more common among those with celiac sprue as well. I've never been officially diagnosed but feel better GF, which I have been for years now. S S A Lack of Vitamin D can cause Ricketts; also known as: swollen wrists and ankles and other spots. Guest guest
One of the best places to get Vitamin D from the Sun is on the legs by wearing shorts and short socks or sweat socks and sneakers or sandals barefoot. If you try to get Vitamin D by turning your face to the Sun and wearing a T-shirt you won't get very much Vitamin D. It only takes 30 minutes of Sun three times a day for healthy Vit. D. Remeber Vitamin D is what activates Calcium to build bone and teeth. a. I recently looked at a bottle of 60 Vitamin D2 pills for $1.99. .- -- In , " Shepard Salzer " <_Shepard@...> wrote: > > > We just discovered that my husband is deficient in vit. D. Guest guest
Always use sunscreen if possible. Vitamin D2 is very safe long term and even in high doses. Vitamin D stores well in the system. Vitamin D helps balance Vitamin A; so the two can be taken safely together. Cod-Liver Oil as well as Egg-Yolks and Butter have both Vit. A and D.- -- In , " Anne " <anne_white53@...> wrote: > > One of the best places to get Vitamin D from the Sun is on the legs > by wearing shorts and short socks or sweat socks and sneakers or > sandals barefoot. > > If you try to get Vitamin D by turning your face to the Sun and > wearing a T-shirt you won't get very much Vitamin D. > > It only takes 30 minutes of Sun three times a day for healthy Vit. Once I was fully loaded with vitamin D, taking more caused me to have pinching headaches which caused me to wake up every hour or so during the night, and the headaches lasted for more than a day, despite my efforts to eliminate them.
