Guest guest
Jan, this is a huge problem for my daughter too (ironically my son with ASD has great teeth so far). I'm still trying to figure this out myself but you might want to ask about this on the vitamin K group, since fat soluble vitamins play a big role in dental health. FWIW, things seem to be going better as her diet now has more butter, raw milk, and CLO. Here's a link that explains why this might be so: http://tinyurl.com/v8vo ....and here's a link to a flouride-free toothpaste that apparently helps re-mineralize teeth. I'd like to try it soon. http://www.oravive.com/index.php Make sure your sealant doesn't have any bisphenol A in it, if you go that route. Sealants would also make re-mineralization impossible. best wishes sorting this out - wish me luck too! :-) Rene > And we went to the dentist..holy geez..her adult teeth came in with > flourosis. Guest guest
I second the reccomendation to check over with the Vitamin K group. Vitamin K2 has some awesome effects on the teeth. Weston A. Price used it (but he called it Activator X and it was in the form of butter oil) along with Cod Liver Oil to heal cavities. I also wanted to point out that just because they're composite doesn't mean they're compatible with her. Please consider purchasing a biocompatibility blood test first. It isn't the cheapest test (mine was about $150), but I came back as reactive to almost half of the composite materials out there (in addition to all of the base metals), so it was worth it. -Lana > SIX molars need filling, and one needs a sealant because it is soft. > Five of the fillings are just shallow, soft spots on the molar > (chewing surfaces), the sixth one is definitely a cavity. Guest guest
With the teeth, this is pretty much our story as well. Both my NT and ASD sons get so many cavities despite great dental hygiene. They have both done a lot of chelation with Andy's protocol as well. I asked our (non-holistic but respectful) dentist what was going on. He said that this is really common in kids now. I told him that I never had a cavity until I was in college - and I didn't even floss. My husband didn't have a cavity until after college. And shouldn't our boys have similar genes and dental outcomes? When I was little, my pediatric dentist did not heavily push flossing. Now they all do. And the kids all are still getting cavities. > > Ok my 11 year NT Hg kid has done 9 rounds of chelation.7 with dmsa > alone and 2 with dmsa/ala. Guest guest
Hi, I have read posts on this issue previously. Seems that many youngsters have had lead replace calcium during the laying down process of the teeth and bones and then along the way of their childhood. Both these minerals have a 2+ charge on them, and the body cannot differentiate between the minerals (whether good or bad). During chelation, the lead is being pulled, and unless the child has been supplemented with lots of calcium/cofactors for absorption (PLUS the child must be actually be absorbing these supplements which means their gut must be functioning OK, protein adequate since minerals absorption is dependent on this etc) then cavities quickly develop. na > > > > Ok my 11 year NT Hg kid has done 9 rounds of chelation.7 with dmsa > > alone and 2 with dmsa/ala. Guest guest
-I have been reading Weston Price, and what he is saying makes complete sense. Our kids are nutrient deficient. Dental decay is actually osteoporosis of the teeth. Since teeth are bones, just outside bones...what is happening is that body is deficient in the necessary things to make bone, or is in need of the nutrients in the bone, and starts using it. Basically, taking calcium from the teeth rather than the food. Most food we eat is so depleted in nutrients compared to 50 years ago, even 30 years ago. Even the organic stuff, has less vitamins and minerals that what our ancestors ate. Because this tooth thing is only being seen in civilized countries, not in countries that follow their ancestral diet. I am going to get his book to read more on that diet. But basically, it's a deficiency. I am going to attempt to correct this in my kids. He mentiones raw whole milk (cow or goat), rich butter from grass fed cows, CLO, Vit A, D, K and E...some other stuff I got to go through. Just type his name in search page... This makes sense, since 95% of mothers are calcium deficient before they ever get pregnant. Our children are born that way, and our diets dont' correct it. It is just hard to find food that is actually whole, real, fresh. -- In , " mom114425 " <JLJukoski@...> wrote: > > With the teeth, this is pretty much our story as well. Guest guest
Really young kids have softer nails, like newborns, and infants. However a preschooler should have regular ones. This is usually mineral deficiency related. Make sure there is no nail fungus causing his nails to be loose. They would look abnormal or yellow or peel. > > > > Ok my 11 year NT Hg kid has done 9 rounds of chelation.7 with dmsa > > alone and 2 with dmsa/ala. Guest guest
That would explain why my other chelating child had no cavities even after 18 rounds. He is taking more vitamins. Being that she is older, her lead absorption was probably more during the years of growing those adult teeth. Great, now is we can only get the process turned around. I know her teeth have a lot of flouride in them, obvious signs of flouride. Which is no good. Her gut is good, and protein intake is good. MORE VITAMINS and MINERALS I say!! Thank you!! > > > > > > Ok my 11 year NT Hg kid has done 9 rounds of chelation.7 with > dmsa > > > alone and 2 with dmsa/ala. Guest guest
Are you dealing with lead? Lead takes the place of calcium, so if you're chelating out the lead it's coming ultimately from bones and teeth. I think that's part of what's going on with me. I have always had horrible teeth. My maternal grandparents and uncle all had false teeth in their 40s. I'm taking vitamin K2 now to see if that helps. My hair test shows high calcium which may mean my body is wasting it. My blood calcium in WNL but the body borrows in order to keep the blood level WNL. K2 helps the body put/keep calcium where it belongs. I also recently started using Spry toothpaste which is supposed to help remineralize teeth. Hard to tell yet if it's helping. Some supplement with calcium. Even though I'm both vegan and GF we eat lots of leafy greens so I should be getting more than enough. Guest guest
Hi all, for my son, his nails are very thick although it have not been a source of worry for me but if you feel it is significant, please do not hesitate to respond. What worries me though is that he has a tooth growing inside ,behind the other front row of lower incissors. i know it has to be removed but i do not know how to go about it, cos am scared about the pain, anaesthesia and drug they might give him. Could anybody help me with suggestions, would be greatly appreciated. Guest guest
Hi Jan, Just read the idea of using dairy products for calcium, only precaution there is if the child has a sound, healed gut. Otherwise, causes more trouble than it is worth - casein and lactose are damaging to people with leaky gut issues. Donna Gates has a great book (BEDROK diet) and she firmly believes good dark green leafy as a source. She is also into using kefired organic unpastuerised milk (IN A HEALED GUT), plus the use of fermented vegetables from the very beginning (another way to get readily digested/absorbed minerals and full of probiotics/good yeasts). She is a US gal, and has a website people can go to (and a group). I used to use kefir grains to do young green coconut kefir, it died, so have ordered Donna's starter to get back into it. I've been reading " lots " in the past 12 months and her book would have to be one of the best reads yet with good explanations of how and WHY !!! IMO, once healed, more of the Weston Price ideas may possibly be implemented, for kids with autism/bad guts/ADD though, in the healing stages, I'd err on caution on the use of the grains irrespective of whether they have been fermented etc na > > > > Hi, > > I have read posts on this issue previously. > > > > Seems that many youngsters have had lead replace calcium during > the > > laying down process of the teeth and bones and then along the way > of > > their childhood. Guest guest
, Her hair lead was low, but she is 11, so who knows what it was when she was 3. Gee could dmsa be pulling flouride? Ha! Since I know that with her flourosis...her teeth are made of that and calcium...just a long shot. No seriously, I think she has always been deficient in minerals... I think we are going to do the CLO and K and that mineralizing paste too. > > > > Ok my 11 year NT Hg kid has done 9 rounds of chelation.7 with dmsa > > alone and 2 with dmsa/ala. I use anti-virals [vitamin C, OLE, Virastop] and my plantar's warts are gone now. I am guessing some kind of fungus?? It might be. It can also be other things. Check these links http://www.skinatlas.com/nails.htm http://dermnetnz.org/hair-nails-sweat/nails.html http://www.pathlights.com/nr_encyclopedia/03extr02.htm At my house, too-thick nails, and conversely overall too-thin nails, meant folic acid deficiency. > Mind you all will be composite. But...how the heck can a kid get > that many soft spots on the enamel so quickly?? Chelation can cause this, especially if you are removing lead. Adding calcium, magnesium, and vitamins D and K, can be helpful for proper absorption of the calcium. Also, a general mineral supplement. Guest guest
(Computer was glitched so I was not online recently...anne in Conn.) Yeah; however; a. Chewable Vit. C tabs are not usu. recommended for this very reason. b. The type of enamel slouching from the Teeth due to a Deficiency of Vit. C is not the same as just acid eating the enamel. The slouching fo the enamel is due to lack of Collagen; Collagen is a type of " cement used in bones and teeth; the tooth enamel gets soft due to lack of collagen. Point is good tho'; I would recommend the powder or for children there are pretty good Effervescents; like " Emergency-C. I do not know if Emergency-C has natural or artificial flavors; made for children. Did you know a lack of Vitamin C can acutally cause Rhematoid Arthritis? this is because a lack of Vitamin C causes " minor hmmorages at the joints of the bones; treatable with Vitamin C. If not treated with Vitamin; this Scurvy is misdiagnosed as Athritis! I did not even know Vitamin C was a component of Bone-Health until I read it in the Merck ; America's oldest Medical Textbook . They update the Mnauels every year; and every year they mention Vitamins less and less. I hope I do not one day read the Merck manuel and no mention of Vitamins will be in it; or even sillier; vitamins are " dangerous. A. Guest guest
Actually; I was just making a general Nutritional trivia statement that soft teeth MAY be A Vitamin C deficieny; amongst other Nutrients such as: " Calcium; Boron; Vitamin D (The Barge for Calcium);etc. Also concerning the Enamel hardening up with Vitamin C; Calcium and other Essential and trace minerals; this could take up to 3 years of continual Vitamin C use with the added Calcium. Notice: If she ever gets a rash on her hands arms or face after eating Oranges; this can be due to Acidosis; an overload of Citric Acid! I had it myself when I used to eat bags of Tangerines; Dr. diagnosed me with Rash;Acidosis. Based on the following true statement: 90% OF OUR CALCIUM IS STORED IN OUR BONES AND TEETH AND IS USED TO REAPIR AN DREPLENISH TEETH AND BONES. So the best I can think of is : Increase her Calcium. Truth is: Vit. C and Calcium are two of the safest Nutrients known; safe to use in high doses over time. Vit. K hardens Teeth; so incresse her intake of Leafy Greens. Vitamin B-Folic keeps gums hard; not soft. A. , " Jan " <paxlforme@...> wrote: > > She's on 1500 mg of C a day and has been for months. Guest guest
ps Do not stop the Vitamin C; on the contrary; Add the Calcium; must have Vit. D to be effective; Vit. D found in CLO and Sunshine and in cooked Eggs (the Yolks); which also has Vit. A as Cod-liver Oil does. I would recommend using Baking Soda insteaad of commerical toothpaste. > > > > > > > > > > Ok my 11 year NT Hg kid has done 9 rounds of chelation.7 > with > > > dmsa > > > > > alone and 2 with dmsa/ala. Guest guest
The acid in oranges, lemons, chewable vit C, etc, if left on the teeth for any length of time eats the enamel.
