Guest guest
Tami, We recently switched peds and this one has been great about suggesting preventative measures instead of taking a let's wait until she gets another one and treat it stance. I hate to say this, but is actually getting used to the ear infections and they don't bother her nearly as much as they did at first. Her brother (my step-son) was plagued by ear infections - he had them at least twice a month! By the time he was three he didn't even tell us when his ears hurt. He was so used to it that it was like the status quo to have sore ears! Can you believe that?! He is five now and takes Nasonex (nose spray) and controlling the allergies and being a little older seems to have stopped the ear infections. I think some kids are just very prone to them because their eustachian tubes are just so darn short and/or they are just very prone to allergies. ( has both!) Either way, the Prevnar is supposed to help with other bacteria (like the kind that causes strep) so I guess I am glad we got it, but it hasn't helped with the ear infections and to tell you the truth our ped was very straightforward about the possibility that it would not. Talk to you later! Marci (Mom to ) Oklahoma
