Wyndie,

I'm sorry this is still such a big problem. Are any of your

daughter's test results for IgE reactions, or IgG only? In other

words, are you dealing with true allergic reactions, or food

intolerances? In any case, given those IgG results I would really

try to focus on gut healing. If your daughter tolerates them (I know

it's always an issue with herbs and food-sourced supplements), you

might consider supplements that either help soothe or heal leaky gut

like l-glutamine, DGL, slippery elm and n-acetylglucosamine (NAG).

You could either try NAG alone or in Lectin Lock, which contains NAG

and other simple sugars and binds dietary lectins that can cause or

worsen leaky gut and trigger histamine release. We've had good

results with it.

best wishes

Have you tried oral immune globulin?

Can she tolerate any other Bs?

Thanks for the suggestions along with the explanation of what the

last one does. I will certainly give these things a try!

The immune globulin you sent a link to before doesn't have a place to

order it from. I was going to look for it anyway b/c it looks good

but my chiro said he was concerned that if I gave her more IgE and IgG

that it would worsen her situation. Dr. Shaw was supposed to be

looking into it for me, but I never heard back. Do you know where I

can order some? I may just try it myself and see. I don't understand

the whole immunoglobulin thing so I'm willing to try something that

has worked for someone else.

I do not know if she tolerates B's. I haven't tried any others.

Wyndie,

Supplements involved in reducing allergy responses are A, 1000IU per lb, E, 400

IU natural, as much C as you can give her without it causing diarrhea. In

addition to the quercetin make sure you are giving grape seed extract or

pycnogenol at significant enough amounts which would be up to 200 mgs per day.

Pantothenic acid or pantethine is also useful and can be dosed as high as 500

mgs a day.

The C, p. acid and gse would be best divided up at least 3-4 times a day. The A

and E are fat soluble so fine to give just once a day.

[ ] OT: more food allergy problems

I have posted a few times before on my dd's food allergies. She is

one year old, is mercury poisoned (of course) and has rampant

allergies to almost all foods. I have tried everything I could

think of. Quercetin at each meal, enzymes (she didn't tolerate

these at all), I even broke down and used Gastrochrom. Nothing is

working. She is continuing to react with facial rashes, GI

discomfort and severe moodiness. The Gastrochrom caused

constipation and swollen lymph nodes. She had moved up to seven

foods, but is reacting again to something; most likely her most

recent addition of cucumbers.

I have chelated her thru several rounds AC protocol. I was hoping

as we got rid of metals, her fa's would decrease to some degree. I

have found a NAET practicioner who will trade her services for my

cultured veggies, but we have not had a session yet and I am

desperate. Is there any other supplement I can try to help stave

off her reactions while I wait for the NAET testing? I know her

immune system is extremely messed up and I am doing what I can for

that, but her immediate need is the severe fa's.

Starting tomorrow I will be rotating her six foods and she will eat

one meat and veggie all day long and we will rotate that every three

days. Hopefully this will help. Her IgG tests came back as her

being severely allergic to almost everything, so I think this is

both an immune problem and a true FA problem. (I had really hoped

it was just an immune problem so it would be a little less

complicated)

She is currently taking:

Breakfast:

1 cap magnesium

¼ tsp nystatin

¼ tsp EFA oil blend

¼ tablet selenium

3 drops GSE

1 cap zinc

½ cap B5

Lunch:

1 cap magnesium

¼ tsp nystatin

3 drops GSE

½ cap CoQ10 w/ taurine

1 cap milk thistle

Dinner:

1 cap magnesium

1 probiotic sprinkled on food

¼ tsp green powder

1/4 tsp EFA's

Any suggestions are appreciated. I know I have brought this to the

board before, I just can't seem to find a resolution.

So sorry for all this, poor thing!! There is a product that we have

just started called IgG2000 DF. It is made by Xymogen so you could

probably google and see what you find online. We found it at a

compounding pharmacy. Or I think you can order it from

www.holisticheal.com/store which is Amy Yasko's site. It is a powder

so would be easy to dose for your little one.

We just started it a few days ago so I cannot really comment on how

effective it will be, but I know that is one of the main things that

she uses in her practice for immunological issues. We haven't had

any negative reactions to it and my dd is fairly sensitive to many

supplements. I hope you find your answers soon. She does sound

like a good candidate for NAET.

I think only practitioners can order this stuff unless something changed from

about 9 months ago when I looked into this. They would let me with my phd psych

licence which doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me but technically I am in

the medical field and that should scare people.

I looked on the holisticheal site and did not find it there so you

may be right. However, I purchased it at a compounding pharmacy and

they did not ask me for a doctors note or anything like that. In

fact it was on the shelf and not behind the counter. It was on the

list of things that our doc had told us to start so I picked it up.

Wyndie, if you are interested in trying it maybe the best thing would

be to call around to different compounding pharmacies in your area

and just see if anyone carries it.

Thanks for your input ladies. As far as the Xymogen product, I was

discussing it again today with my chiro and he is concerned that her

immune system is already hyper-active and that giving her more

immunoglobulin would cause even more hyper reactions in her immune

system. Can anyone say if that's the case? Does the immunoglobulin

have to be low to supplement? B/c she does have high IgE (of

course) and we don't want to make her worse by any means; but really

really want to try that product if it will not make her system more

reactive.

I am totally out of my element on immunoglobulins so don't

understand the supplementation working. LOL I can get my doc to

write an rx for it if I need to. I know no one can guarantee that

it will work for us, I just want to be sure I don't exacerbate the

problem.

Thank you all SOOO much for your help. I am hopeful that one of

these supplements will be the peice that works for her.

I know so little about immunology I don't feel qualified to discuss

it much, but I can tell you that my dd's IgG test results were low on

everything except peanut butter. Despite this she does react to

various different foods. Her SiGA was very low (10 with a ref range

of 40-204). So based on these test results her doctor wanted us to

start the IgG product. I'm sorry that probably doesn't help you

much, but maybe someone else can give more information on how this is

all related and if it might be something that would be beneficial for

your daughter.

Sheresa and Wyndie, both medium chain triglicerides and EpiCor are

supposed to boost SIgA. If coconut products aren't tolerated, maybe

MCT oil would be. EpiCor is also an immune modulator, not an immune

booster so should be safe for people with overactive immune systems.

http://ajpgi.physiology.org/cgi/content/abstract/286/6/G1081

" They also found significantly higher levels of total salivary

secretory IgA in the EpiCor subjects. The IgA levels were

surprisingly high—more than 300 mg per ml. This indicated that the

EpiCor subjects had the equivalent of an immunological envelope

protecting all the membranes in the eyes, nasal passages, and all the

places where pathogenic organisms enter into the system. "

Wyndie, also wanted to mention that I have read that you need equal amounts of

bromelain given with the quercetin and lots of C for it to be digested.

Rene,

Thanks for pointing this out to me again. I think I knew this at one

point last year and my dd took the Epicor Jr. for 6-8 months but then I

dropped it in January or so thinking that it wasn't really doing

anything. Her SIgA test was run at the beginning of April, so I guess

I either wasn't giving her enough or the results didn't last after I

stopped giving it to her. I may consider starting this one back up

again.

Hi Sheresa

We haven't done any testing so I don't know how this applies to us, but

I've been giving my son the full strength capsule with no problems

(even used 2/day at one point), so maybe you could go higher.

take care

Wyndie,

Another add: Bock mentioned in his new book that he uses Transfer Factor for

allergies and autoimmunity as well as frequent infections. His claim is that TF

can rebalance the immune system.

Wyndie, I was just reminded by comments on another list that global

food intolerances can commonly be due to insufficient HCL in the the

stomach. I don't think there's a good way of getting betaine HCL into

someone if they can't swallow capsules, but supplementing ascorbic

acid, lemon juice or maybe apple cider vinegar with meals might help

lower the stomach pH enough to do some good.

I just re-read Mastering Autism's section on HCL and it is very

helpful. Wyndie, if you don't have the latest copy of this document

and are interested in investigating the HCL angle, let me know and I

Hi,

Digestive bitters can also stimulate acid production in the stomach.

Plus you can use home-made sauerkraut (Donna Gates style).

Rene does this paper mention using ascorbic acid to raise HCL levels? I have a

copy of the new version but my computer really resisted printing all of it out.

It was my remembrance that it did not say to use ascorbic acid but that was a

big help here as when we went to buffered C it drove all her essential elements

down to unacceptable levels.

You might want to clarify if you meant grape seed extract or

grapefruit seed extract. The letters " GSE " appear on the bottle of

grapefruit seed extract.

Thanks Rene. I do give her apple cider vinegar in her water often

Thanks for the reminder though. Some days I'm slack about it so this

I do make cultured veggies for her siblings, but she is severely

allergic to cabbage, even fermented and broken down.

What's digestive bitters? And can it be taken by someone who can't

swallow pills?
