Guest guest
EFA's can cause hyperness and should only be given in the morning. It will keep them awake if they have too late in the day!! Casei is usually casein, if they are casein free, find a probiotic that does not contain any casein. Carlson's? Fish oil? Have you checked the lab report on that one..it is not metal free like Nordic Naturals. With so many allergies to flavoring, you might try flax oil or flax seed. That you can mix into foods so no flavor is needed. It also contains a metal free source of Omegas. I personally am weary of fish oil unless I see a lab report that it does not contain mercury. The borage and flax are ok. Your right to avoid soy is an xenoestrogen and slows the thyroid. > > Poor ds. He's so tired today he just whines at me. Guest guest
Lactobacillus casei is a bacteria species. I can not see how it would have " casein " in it. I found a scientific article on the L. casei and apparently one of the enzymes it makes is peptidase. So it is a possiblity that its name comes from its ability to enzymatically break down caesin protein and utilize it as a food source. Guest guest
I can't remember who had the information on it..I know it was one of the guys that posts here. I just put out a post to see if anyone remembers it or posting about it. I will check the archives...but I do remember be clearly told that testing from a third party did not reveal the same results as Carlson's claims. I do apologize if I am misinformed... > Carlson's? Guest guest
Thanks again everyone! Better safe than sorry concerning the fish oil- I'd rather avoid it now and get the real scoop. Can all necessary Omegas be gotten from flax and borage? I tried Omega-enriched egg yolk (kids allergic to egg white) but, nope, more wakey-wakeys and night terrors. I'll try it once again to be sure it's causing sleep problems, but I'll have to wait until we've all caught up on sleep again. I can't add a single new item to the kids' menu unless I know dh and I can " afford " a lost night's sleep. Familiar? Ack. Who was talking recently about the involuntary reflex of cursing over these things? I think their B's were not extremely compromised according to testing and now I've added more beef to their diet and dark poultry, so I think they're probably getting lots. They probiotic turned out to have traces of- tada- milk protein. Mystery solved. Amazing how little of that stuff they need to be exposed to to throw the whole house upside down. > > Lactobacillus casei is a bacteria species. I can not see how it would > have " casein " in it. Guest guest
>>Can all necessary Omegas be gotten from > flax and borage? At first I thought so. My son did really well with flax oil, and not very well on fish oil. But once I addressed mitochondrial issues and he was fully loaded with flax oil, switching to fish oil produced greater benefits. > I can't add a single new item to the kids' menu unless I know dh and > I can " afford " a lost night's sleep. Familiar? Ack. Yep. Not fun, is it? Dana
