Guest guest
----- Original Message ----- From: anneecbrynn Wondering how in the world a probiotic can cause strep? Any ideas? <<<Perhaps by overheating the immune system? We didn't have a problem at first but the longer we used the VSL the more strep/respiratory we kept getting. Then I happened to read a warning from one of Usman's patients on another board, took out the VSL and the infections stopped. Could be coincidental but I don't think so. Is there any chance that it is helping to pull latent stuff out? <<<<I have no earthly idea about all the viral stuff, it's possible, but here thinking it more likely was ramping things up too much. You'll know if the infections keep getting more and more frequent, that's what happened here. I was surprised because I believe thermophilus is present in all yogurt but I think it is a matter of the amount. I know that not all kids have a problem with this strain in large amounts so maybe that is not what you are dealing with. Just thought it was worth mentioning. I know we had strep before we started VSL, but we are in the thick of it now. Getting a bit better with each round of antibiotics, but I still don't like them. And I certainly don't like the idea that somehow the VSL might cause it. If, on the other hand, it is dealing with latent stuff (if that is possible), then I am all for it. Guest guest
I don't know specifically about strep but from what I understand your body harbors bacteria all the time and it is only when the immune system gets particularly stressed/low that we actually catch something. [ ] /was: Re: Question about LA and copper levels , Yes, I remember when you were going through this. But I still don't see how it could CAUSE strep, unless it has the strep bacteria in it. This stuff is enough to drive one nutso. Anne > > > > > > > > > > > > My son is 9 and I have restarted chelation using LA > > alone > > > > on > > > > > > the Cutler protocol. I can't answer your specific question about the probiotics, but I eliminated strep at my house with olive leaf extract. Dana
Guest guest
----- Original Message ----- From: anneecbrynn , Yes, I agree that that is what happens for most people. But I tend to think that for some of our kids, the immune system is so dysfunctional that they catch something and the immune system doesn't even know to try to deal with it, suppress it, whatever. Instead, it just manifests in all kinds of wierd behavior and developmental issues. I think that is why so many see boosts from immune system intervention, i.e. the body, with help, starts to respond to stuff that has gotten in and was left unaddressed. Or am I missing your point? <<<Anne, sometimes I know what I am talking about and sometimes I think I know what I am talking about but concerning the immune system I know I don't know what I am talking about. Here we have been blocked at every corner with anything antiviral which always produces symptoms that make her complain about sharp pains in her stomach. This includes Virastop, Valtrex and OLE. We recently started her on Elderberry extract, just 1/2 capsule spread throughout the day. She was on this for about 10 days when I had her unexpectedly and because I was rushed I did not empty the capsule 1/2 and gave her a full capsule to swallow. And she got the most chicken poxy looking rash on her back I have ever seen, minus the blisters. It was horrible and itched just like chicken pox. This lasted for about two weeks and made her so miserable the first night she could not sleep Now we have cold sores. All this from Elderberry extract. I have read some studies that reported Elderberry extract could stop the replication of Herpes I and II and also the Varicella virus, EBV virus (which she tested negative for) so is this clearing latent viruses? Or something else? I have no clue. Because she is largely recovered now the only way I can tell about anything is to watch her handwriting which will vaccilate slightly with improvement and decline and that has improved and is now consistently good. And she seems to just feel better, is happier. But I am not quite sure what to think about any of this. Guest guest
----- Original Message ----- From: anneecbrynn I can't imagine that her poxy/rash thing and her cold sores " came from " the elderberry extract. Rather, the elderberry extract hunted down the viruses in her system and started knocking them out. That would be my thinking anyway, and is my thinking on the strep front for my little guy. <<<Just to me, this would be less clear with a probiotic that is known to impact the immune system although I also found some evidence that Elderberry extract was also indicated in raising beneficial cytokines, so maybe we are saying the same thing. I was able not to totally panic this time and withdraw it although I did reduce the amount significantly and when I increased it just a little...along came the cold sores.>>>> I think testing doesn't tell you what is in there, just possibly the extent to which your body, perhaps aided by vaccinations or supplements, has identified and is trying to fight what is tested for. <<<I do trust the no EBV finding, however she has not been tested for herpes and/or varicella titers although she did have that dratted vax...wish we could have a do over on that one.>>>>> Does any of this make sense? FWIW, I tend to think that if I could clear my little guy of all of his latent viral and bacterial issues (of which I am convinced we have many, so this is pure and absolute speculation), he might pass for NT. However, I am quite sure that until his system is pretty clear of mercury and other icky stuff and his methylation system is working well, he wouldn't be able to maintain that status on his own. <<<I think it's entirely possible that you are right about this, that his behavior would be appropriate if cleared of viral issues. Her totally and completely flawless social abilities came from Transfer Factor and I am pretty convinced of this. It was unlike anything that occurred on or with chelation that faded in and out and then was there. It was like something clicked, or a light came on and it has never waivered. >>>> Again, I, like you, am fully aware that I don't know what I am talking about. :-) <<<Ditto again but we managed to have a pretty good conversation despite this :-) >>> Anne > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > My son is 9 and I have restarted chelation > using > > LA > > > > alone > > > > > > on > > > > > > > > the Cutler protocol.
