Guest guest Posted January 1, 2007 Report Share Posted January 1, 2007 Melinda, Only the unbuffered will help raise the stomach acid because it is acidic (for this reason we need to be careful with the unbuffered C and tooth enamel as it can be harmful). I don't have an answer for your other questions. It seems unlikely to me that a child would need very high doses of the unbuffered vitamin C to help raise stomach acid--the kind of high doses some of us use for viruses. I guess things to take into account would be how low the stomach acid really is, how much calcium and magnesium (which can inhibit stomach acid) are being supplemented, and what other measures you're taking for the stomach acid (like the lemon juice).
