Guest guest
Hello all, I have been reading the postings and have been talking with a lot of parents here in St. Louis who have children with AS. I have heard of the frustration that these parents are having because their child's school just does not "get" our kids. They think our kids are defiant, are doing it on purpose, are so smart and just need to apply themselves, etc. etc. etc. They say we spoil our kids and if we only disciplined them, things would be different. Of course we all know that nothing can be further from the truth. So, what do we do about it? How do we change the mindset of our educators? I would welcome any and all ideas. We do need to change this. If we have a united front and go to our legislators, we can and will get something done! This is so critical as there are so many kids that have AS now and many of them are going undiagnosed and slip through the cracks. Please let me know your thoughts, comments, etc. I know I want to do something to help our kids, I just don't really know where to get started and I definitely cannot do this on my own. I am in MO, but this needs to be done in all States. Thanks for your support. Shauna Craig Saint Louis Asperger's Syndrome Support Network www.stlaspergers.org You rock.
