Guest guest
This is a message I just posted over at the Cranial Tech website. The discussion has been going on here too so I wanted to post it here too. I hope I don't offend anyone. I just think that it is very important that all aspects of treatment are taken into consideration and that we realize that no one is perfect. I did not do this to upset anyone these are just my views. Our babies heads Posted by: ..Noah's Mom 2001/03/12 I have been reading a lot the past few days about all this one band is better than the other. I think the DOC band is great! My son is a recent DOC graduate and his head is beautiful after only four months. We used Cranial Tech because it was the only option given to us. We didn't have a clue that we had a choice. But what I wanted to say is that there is going to be good and bad in any company you use for any type of product just because they are man made and humans are not perfect. I have heard some really bad horror stories about both the DOC and STAR bands. I have read people throwing off on the STARband for a couple of days now. I hava no idea how they are because we used only the DOC band. But I do want to say that I think Cranial Technologies has some serious issues that really need to be addressed. We were EXTREMELY happy with the band. But we were not happy with the company. For one I feel that they are very arrogant and very focused on money before treatment. Just like here on this board not allowing posts to be made about other companies. Lets face it there aren't many Cranial Tech offices out there and it can be very expensive to travel. So if parents can get another band made by another comapny and have the same results I think we should encourage that instead of hindering it. The babies are what is important and they may not get treatment if the families cannot travel every two weeks to a Cranial Tech office. Also the new policy of "no pictures during casting" I was told that this was done because they were afraid someone was going to copy their process. If someone else can make a band and get the same results and make it cheaper I say more power to them! It means more kids will be treated!! The last thing I have to say is the payment plan that Cranial Tech has in place is a joke!!! 600.00 up front and 500.00 every 30 days. I am a SAHM and most weeks we are barely getting by. We are not rich people! 500.00 a month is more than my car payment for goodness sakes. We took out a loan to pay for 1600.00 of my sons band. The only way that Cranial Tech would even cast him is to have a payment of 600.00 I could not afford that and had we not taken out the loan my son would STILL be waiting treatment beause our insurance company has not yet paid. At our last visit we were asked for payment before I even got to sit down in the chair in the exam room!!! And we weren't even due for payment yet! Like I said I really am thankful that my son got his DOC band. But had we needed a 2nd band we were going to go with STAR band if at all possible. I truly believe that a lot of babies are going untreated because of the way Cranial Tech handles their financial issues with their patients. Our babies heads are what is important here and I pray that all these little crooked noggins get treatment whether it be STAR DOC or other local made helmets. What is right for one may not be right for another. Also what one person is completely comfortable with another one might not be. My intention here was not to bash Cranial Technologies I just wanted to point out that no one company is perfect and issues are going to come up no matter who you go with.
