Guest guest Posted March 14, 2001 Report Share Posted March 14, 2001 , I'm sending calm vibes your way - maybe after you talk to the ped you will have some closure to the situation. is wearing a locally made helmet and she had one side of her head a little higher than the other. That is actually one of the first things I noticed improved! The only thing we are waiting on now is for maybe a little more ear alignment. The helmet is fully enclosed and maybe that helped? Starting younger would probably have been much better for - as it is I guess I am thankful we got started by 9 months. I know there are people that weren't able to convince anyone to help until after that! I think if they are younger the passive full helmet would definately be a good thing. I also think for the older kids the band would probably be better. I don't know! I do know this much - whatever works for our kids no matter what it is or when we start is a VERY good thing!!!!! Let's hear it for all the great devices out there and more importantly for the AWESOME orthotists that so many of us are blessed to have!!!!! You had the neuro that told you that you could be done, but you decided to continue and I believe your orthotist is still working with you. Do I have that right? I am glad to hear that you had some really good improvement! Wow, I'll bet you are really glad you didn't follow the advice of your neuro! I would be so tempted to go and tell him a thing or two - LOL We are struggling with a similar situation right now. is 14 months old and has been in her helmet since she was 9 months. We know that we are near the end of treatment, but we are very hesitant to stop because we worry about what could be! However, I REALLY trust my orthotist and when he says we are done I think I will be at peace with the decision to stop. (I like my neuro too, but I think I would only trust my orthotist with this decision!) Best of luck with your decision - I'm sure you will do the right thing!
