Guest guest
: Geesh! Get that family well! Hanna spent the entire summer in her band. She got it in April, and I didn't find she sweated much more in the summer. I guess her body just adjusted accordingly. Dress lightly, don't buy any socks (we didn't use any all summer!), and go where the air conditioning is! ) Sam will be fine. No worries! Also, we used 99% alcohol, and set the band in direct sunlight for the hour off. Ask your pharmacist to order you some 99%. With 5 kids, we have had every virus out there at least 2or 3 times:0( I hope we are on the mends now. Mac who is turing 4 this weekend has pneumonia (sp) so I hope this will be the last thing that happens here. Say a prayer. Sam is doing pretty well. He had his band off a few days because of having a fever but he is better now. We went to the orthotist and plastic surgeon this past week. No growth this month, but they are still happy with the results so far. The dr. said he thinks Sam should stay in his band till about 15 months (that means he will have to wear is 6 months total) He turns 1 April 11th. I really wasn't prepared for that, but I think he thinks Sams sutures are 'sticky' and he wants to keep the head shape rounding as long as possible. So unless he leans to take it off(Amy I wont tell him about your baby...) we will keep going forward. Does anyone had experience with bands in the hot summer. I did get the 90% alchol (pick it up today) so I hope that helps. Well, I have missed you all. I am still trying to catch up on posts. I wonder how many years until my time is my own. LOL and Sam,4/11/
Guest guest
I'm new to this and my son hasn't gotten his band yet...we will probably have it over the summer since they told me that he would wear it anywhere from 3 - 7 months. What is the thing with the Alcohol and sitting the band in the sun? I'd appreciate your response. Thanks! Stasia > : > Geesh! Get that family well! > Hanna spent the entire summer in her band. Guest guest
What is the thing with the Alcohol and sitting the band in the sun? Generally bands/helmets are cleaned with isopropyl alcohol. I used 99%, as it is the strongest concentration, and those things can get pretty stinky! The sun helps to keep the smell down, as well, and to help keep the inner foam from yellowing.
