Guest guest
Joann, Yes, we got MANY comments that said, " I don't see anything wrong " etc. espically from family and friends. Because Sam didn't have a 'flat' spot, once we found the sutures open, the dr. didn't even know if Sam could be treated because he was 8 months old. We had to change hosp. to go with a different band style. Good luck, go with you r own feelings, Sam's head did lose the duck back and we are hoping for even more growth in the width. > , > > I saw your Sam's photos in the Files. Guest guest
Joann, I forgot to mention, we really had to prove that Sam might benifit from a band. The dr's did not know what to do with him once they found out his sutures were open. (They have mentioned that they are sticky) They really didn't tell us what would happen if we didn't band because they really had never treated anyone with Sam's head shape that did not have surgery first. Wehn we went to the orthotists office last week we had an associate look at Sams head and when I described Sams head before treatment, he thought he had already had the surgery, I have come to the conclusion that we must be very fortunate that Sam'e sutures are infact open, because no-one in the medical field can believe his head could look like it did without having cs. (thank you GOD) I also wanted to tell you Sams head looked kinda like a duck butt in back. His head angled back to a rounded point in the back from the ears. Almost like a 'V' if looking from the top. It also slopes down from the top to the point in the back. (IE duck butt:0) We have seen the most improvement in that area. He is loosing the point (or as the orthotist says ...the bump) in the back which we are most thankful for. I really believe that the dr. wants to keep him banded so we don't loose what we have. sorry this is so long, I hope I help to answer some of your questions. Good luck with banding.
