Guest guest
We had our casting today for a Star band. I couldn't believe how fast the orthotist worked and how patient he was with my son. Of course, my son screamed at the top of his lungs for the maybe 7 minutes it took! We should have the band by next Friday. I feel very fortunate that I never had to " argue " with my dr. or have any battles with my HMO. Our orthotist asked us if we were having difficulties getting payment. He said if we were,he had a bunch of literature about plagiocephaly that he would send to the insurance company for us. He also said he and one of his partners are trying to put together a training packet to give to new parents when they leave the hospital about the signs of torticollis and plagio so maybe children won't have to wait so long for treatment if they notice a problem. I thought that was a great idea. I am just happy we had a nice experience with all of it. I wish everyone could have my insurance coverage and primary care doctor. I know it must be very difficult when you are trying to get your child care and the insurance company sees the problem as " cosmetic " . I am also so grateful for all of you who have posted pictures so I could see the casting process and pictures of the helmets. Thank you and have a nice weekend. Guest guest
, Sounds like you have gotten the ball rolling! I can't believe that Hope actually fell asleep - what a sweet little pea!!! It's good that the ortho is helping keep track of Evan's progress as well - that is really good. As far as decorating it is my understanding that what works for the DOC should work for the STAR as well. I'm sure people who have had them both will be able to give you more insight about that. Let us know how the fitting goes in 2-3 weeks and HOORAY for being on the way to a rounder head!!!!
