Guest guest
- Welcome to the group! I'm glad you found us! There are quite a few of us here that share your story. We saw a neurosurgeon when was 8 months old and he recommended a molding helmet. Our ped told us when was 4 months old that her head would round out on its own - it never did. I also fretted over her being in a helmet during her first birthday, learning to walk, other holidays, etc. However, I have never for one minute regretted my decision to go with the helmet. I don't want to have it just for cosmetic reasons. I want to make sure we don't get TMJ, vision, speech, etc problems that can sometimes occur when plagio is present. I was NOT happy when the neuro told me it would be 4-5 months! However, I now realize that 4-5 months is a teeny-tiny amount of time in the big picture! Like I tell myself ALL the time, " it's not forever, it's just for now! " Ultimately the decision is a very personal one that everyone has to make for themselves. I would say this much - go with your mommy instincts - I don't think they will ever steer you wrong! Also, you can try going to the files sections and see some of the photos of plagio babies posted there. Check it out and see if your baby has any similiarities. I'm glad you are with us. We are here for you no matter what you decide! Marci (Mom to ) Oklahoma
Guest guest
hello everyone! i just joined yesterday. well my son is 7months old and we saw a neurosurgeon tuesday. the doctor recomended the band because my son has a flat spot on the right side aswell as a forehead bump. his regular doctor told us that his head will outgrow this, im not sure. i guess i am just feeling overwhelmed. i know my son will only have the band 4 or 5 months but that is a long time when i think of what the next few months mean(crawling, first steps ,birthday etc..)i want to do the right thing but my son's plagio is not noticiable unless i point it out. well we are waiting to hear from the insurance co. how expensive is it? well thanks for listening. jennifer
