Guest guest
, My son was 3 when he was put on risperdal. The doctor said he had tics, (does anyone else have tics with there apsergers?) and that was one of the things, along with aggression that it was used for. The only downside we saw, was that he ate us out of the house. He gained like 20 pounds in 3 months and looked just bloated or like he was retaining alot of fluid. He is 6 now, and we are yet on a another trial and error with new meds. Has anyone ever used meletonin to help with sleeping? Just curious. We started using it when my son was on some of the adhd meds. Guest guest
My grandson, Drake is on Risperdal. We can;t tell it helps at home but we took him off of it for two weeks and the school could certainly tell he was off of it. We have a friend, whose son is on it too, and she says she can;t tell any difference at home but it works for school. One of the side effects is weight gain but Drake has not put on any extra weight. We haven;t noticed any side effects and hes been on it for over 6 months now. He started taking it when he was 4. -- In , " Lowry " <flyballmom@...> wrote: > > The medical team want to put my 3 yr old grandson on risperdal, my DIL > would like to know if there are any other 3 yr olds out there on > risperdal and what do you think about it ?? > > Please give us your input. > > , wife, mom and grandma to my 3 beloved aspies >

Guest guest
My son is on the same dosage and he hasn't gained weight either. They are also starting him on Focalin this week to help with his hyperactivity and attention span so we will see what this does for him. So far the Risperdal does help some and I will take what i can get. Ada Tickle Wallbank <w_wittmayer@...> wrote: Our son is on Risperdal as well. There is a big difference when he is on or off. He has not gained any weight on it either. However, I wonder if that is due to the amount of dosage. He takes 0.5mg in the morning and at night. Guest guest
About the Focalin......my son took Focalin before he was dx with Aspergers. Unfortunately, we gave him the first dose on the night he was being baptized at church. My advise......bad move. LOL. Don't give them a new medication when they are part of something big. He had a bad reaction to Focalin. It literally made him feel like ants were crawling all over him. Not a good thing on the night you are to be baptized. That was just our experience. We all know every child is different. So, we were off the focalin pretty quick. lol. He is on Vyvanse now for the hyperactivity and poor attention. He has done really well on this medication. He is also on Risperdal .05 ( ) Re: Risperdal / need input My grandson, Drake is on Risperdal. We can;t tell it helps at home but we took him off of it for twoweeks and the school could certainly tell he was off of it.
