Guest guest
Hi all, I had applied for angel flight since we live in Tulsa and have to go to Dallas for the DOC band. Well they just called me and said they were rejecting me because my neglegent ped said he didn't think this treatment was even necessary and I was treating my son for cosmetic reasons not medical reasons! I am so angry I don't even know what to do right now! I need to write a letter to this ped, but my anger and frustration are clogging my brain. I have just now switched to a different ped here that I know is knowledgeable about plagio and will be willing to help me. But I can't see her for 30 days because the insurance makes you wait that long. It's not really that we were counting on angel flight or that we would have even used them every time. It's just that my stupid ped has just finally pushed me over the edge! HELP! Jill
Guest guest
Hi Jill! I'm not sure how the process works for AngelFlight, but could you appeal to them? Maybe describe the horrific " treatment " (or lack-of treatment!) from this ped, and print out some of the infomation in the links section? Contact a ped. neuro or SPECIALIST that you might have seen to help your appeal? All I can say is your former ped is vindictive...and should not be offering OPINIONS on a subject s/HE OBVIOUSLY KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT!!! Guest guest
Best of luck Jill with your new ped. We recently switched peds and we have been so much happier with our new ped's attitude toward the treatment! Guest guest
Hi my name is . I fly with Angel Flight from Virginia Beach to Charlotte every two weeks. I was actually flying yesterday on March 7. What doctor is giving you the prescription for the DOC Band? Maybe this doctor could also sign off on the flying. I will tell you that the flying is so much easier on the babies than driving there and back in one day. My son has never even cried on the plane before. Angel Flight is wonderful. Keep pushing and I know that a doctor will allow you to do this. I wish all these stupid doctors would stop saying that it is cosmetic. They don't seem to have a problem with kids wearing braces but they sure do have a problem with all of us parents trying to make sure that our kids have the best possible chance of a normal life. If these kids heads do not get straightened out then they look forward to a life of most likely getting joked by others and also bicycle helmets, etc. not fitting them. I would rather my son have crooked teeth than a misshapen head. Keep your head up. I know it's very very hard. These doctors need to realize that there ARE medical problems to go along with plagio such as migrains, TMJ, vision problems, etc. My son's jaw is almost in alignment and his ears are now almost perfect so the heck with all of those doctors out there. > Hi all, > I had applied for angel flight since we live in Tulsa and have to go > to Dallas for the DOC band. Guest guest
Hi again, Just to clarify something, my ped is the one who wrote the script for the DOC band. He only did so because I did everything but threaten him if he didn't. He didn't agree with my decision at all to get help for my son's misshapen head. I wonder how he would feel if it were his child? I'm trying to work on a letter right now to send to him, but there's so much I want to say to him I get overwhelmed. We are in the middle of a 30 day waiting period to be able to switch peds. I think the one we are switching to will be very cooperative and refer this as a medical necessity.
