Guest guest
Hi Jenn, My daughter is also 7 months and has plagio. We noticed the flat spot on her right side at around 3 months. Our ped recommended repostioniong and we did so from 3 to 6 months. We think it MAY have helped a little but I'm not sure if it was more like wishful thinking. Repositioning was difficult because would always turn her head to the flat spot. We were constantly disturbing her sleep by putting her back on her side. We decided to go with the doc band. We received the band on Feb. 12 and have already seen improvement. Hope this helps! Good luck! , Charlotte --- edstien@... wrote: > my son is 7 months and has plagio.his neurosergeon > recommends the doc > band but i am wondering if their are any parents > that did not get the > band and if their childs case improved over time? > luke has a flat > spot and forehead bossing on the right side. im not > sure if > repositioning will do the trick(like our ped > says)thanks for the > replies-jenn > > __________________________________________________
Guest guest
I know this will sound very pessimistic, but truthfully, I have talked to VERY few parents who saw a moderate - severe case round out on it's own ( (I have been on this list for over a year). If the flattening/bossing is very mild, then perhaps it will fix itself, but at 7 months of age, I doubt that repositioning will do much good. A 7 month old can be very stubborn about staying in one position - unless it's the position he picks!! If you decide you would like to try repositioning, please check this link... http://www.plagiocephaly.org/support/repositioning_techniques.htm Also, make sure you have baby checked for torticollis. A tight neck muscle may be causing him to look one way. Does his head tilt or lack range of motion? If so, seek out a physical therapist who specializes in infants and torticollis. Call around. Good luck in making your decision. Kendra in CanadaFor more plagio info, visitwww.plagiocephaly.org/support... ----- Original Message ----- From: edstien@... Guest guest
Jenn, I can only speak for myself, but we noticed 's flatness when she was 4 months. At the 7 month check it was not any better, in fact it was worse. At 4 months her head was just flat. At 7 months her face was asymmetrical and her ears were out of alignment. I try very hard not to beat myself up for not pushing to see the specialist when she was 4 months! We were not able to get into the helmet until she was 9 months old - we have had good success, but I think it would have come faster and with even more correction if we had started younger! That's our story! Good luck with the very hard decision you have ahead of you! Marci (Mom to ) Oklahoma
