Guest guest
Hi, My son is scheduled to get his DOC band next Friday. We are driving from Tulsa to Dallas for the appointment. I had originally made the appt. for 2:00 in the afternoon. But I have heard we may need to go back to readjust. I was trying to avoid taking off work two days. But now I'm afraid to leave Friday and then need to turn around and come back. Any suggestions?
Guest guest
Is there any chance you could get in for an earlier appt.? You could get the band, they'll probably ask you to stick around for a little while, then check for pressure spots. Then maybe you could go for lunch and a little shopping for a few hours, and if you needed to go back, you could. That makes for a pretty long day, so I would suggest that you take someone with you so you can take turns driving. Good luck! Guest guest
Teri - my doc was only about $13K so you might interview a few more places if you want to save a few $ (that doesn't include fills past the first one, however, but even 4 fills at $200 each isn't even another $1000, and I can't imagine getting more than four fills the first year. There's no way that I would have gone to Mexico, simply because if something goes wrong, I don't want to have to hop on a plane on short notice to get it fixed. I have no doubt after the Seattle Splash last month that a number of surgeons in Mexico are great, but the bottom line is, I waited even to do it in Richland in WA until there was someone local doing it (coming over every week from Auburn/Tacoma for several days to establish a clinic here) rather than traveling 4-5 hours to the other side of the mountains for it. I guess I would have done that if I had to, but I'm really glad my doc's office is only a few minutes away. Guest guest
I cannot say enough about NWWLS. The doctors are professionals and all they do is Lap Band Surgery, that is one of the main reasons I choose them. The support and follow up is incredible, I have never felt so much support and understanding. I was one of those who just could not find my " sweet spot " and must have had at least a dozen fills my first year and was thankful that they were included in my treatment. I have now found my " sweet spot " and continue to loose weight. Now that I have had the band for over a year, I can honestly say that I could not put a price on what the Lap Band has done for me, it has been a very, very positive life changing experience for me and I contribute a lot of that to NWWLS Doctors and Staff. You may be stressing out the money now, but not for long..... Robin S. 2/3/06 Dr. Watkins 279/218/140 Robin Robin
