Joanne,

We have one member that I am sure of that lives in Australia. Unfortunately I

believe she has not had any luck trying to find a way to get a band there.

Hopefully she will respond to your post. We had some posts not that long ago

regarding band availability in Australia. I will try to find the post numbers

and let you know. Have you seen a specialist yet? Have you had a catscan or

x-rays? How are they deciding if it is cranio or plagio? I will try to get

you those post numbers.

Welcome - I'm glad you found us!!

Hi everyone,

We are currently looking into whether my son has craniosynostosis or

positional scaphocephaly. Does anyone have any experience or info

about positional scaphocephaly?

is almost 5mo and his head is approx 10.5cm by 15.5cm, has

some ridging but it is not done the sagittal suture as much as it is

from the anterior fontanelle to the forehead. whether he lays on his

front or back he generally turns his head to one side or the other.

I am in Australia (Brisbane). If he needed a band would they even

have them here, does anyone know?

Scaphocephaly is contraindicated for the Orthomerica band, so it is

unfortunately not an option. It says this on their web page.

I also have a son who had positional scaphocephaly, and we used the

DOC band for treatment, as it was the only company I could find that

would help us. However, there is a mother here who's son also had

positional scaphocephaly whose local children's hospital is using the

molding device that they would have used after surgery for sagittal

craniosynostis had he had it. It is the first time they have done

this for positional cases. Perhaps you can call around and find

local children's hospitals who do surgery for sagittal

craniosysnostis and see if they might do the same. Maybe can

give you some pointers on how she got them to do this.

Good Luck and let us know.
